Despite the often quoted tension between South Korea and the communist North Korea, in recent times both have co-existed along side each other quite peacefully for years. In fact the communist North has relaxed considerably and actually encourages tourism, both to improve relations with the outside world, but primarily for the additional income it brings in terms of foreign currency.

Both regions offer diversity. In the South the hustle and bustle of the capital, Seoul, to the tranquility and simplistic life in the mountains. Likewise the North has its busy cities and areas of natural beauty where peasant-folk still tend the fields.
