Thinking of a holiday
in Cambodia? It used to be that if you mentioned Cambodia,
most people would first think of the Khmer Rouge and
then Angkor Wat. Fortunately the Khmer Rouge are no
longer fighting, but Angkor Wat is very much in evidence.
The temple is just one of hundreds in the jungle,
each one is quite exquisite and even temple weary
travellers will be amazed. Many temples have been
left as they were found, with enormous tree roots
strangling the walls and creeping through blocks of
stone which are strewn higgledy-piggledy on the floor
- real Indiana Jones stuff.
Phnom
Penh has reawakened after years of struggle and is
once again an exciting Asian city which can be enjoyed
both by day and by night. Now however, there is so
much more to Cambodia and as security is no longer
an issue, our clients are being drawn to areas which
have seen very few visitors in decades. Land and boat travel within
Cambodia is pure adventure but the reward is sleepy
towns, such as Kratie with its freshwater dolphins,
the hill tribe villages of Rattanakiri and Cambodia's
well-kept secret, the seaside resort of Sihanoukville.
