Holidays
in China - Tour Itineraries
An 8
day tourcombining national parks with Pandas from £1725
per person
From adorable panda bears to beautiful natural scenery and minority cultures, Sichuan Province has something for the whole family.
During this family-friendly adventure, photograph giant pandas close-up and learn about government efforts to protect them. Visit San
Xing Dui Museum to discover the mysterious ancient Shu culture of pre-historic Sichuan and stroll through meadows of wildflowers
and along mountain trails in the Jiuzhaigou Valley.
This individual itinerary can easily be combined with stays in Beijing, where we can include many more activities for the family, such as a picnic on
the Great Wall, learning how to make dumplings with the Wang family or practising the art of calligraphy with the Zhang family.
CHENGDU PANDA BREEDING CENTRE
This research base, which has elements of a veterinary laboratory,
park, panda habitat and a zoo, is one of the best places to see giant
pandas. The grounds of the research base, covered with trees,
flowers and 14 species of bamboo are very attractive and at the very
least, provide a pleasant escape from the noise and congestion of
Chengdu itself. As you follow pathways through the reserve, you
may see not only giant pandas but also red pandas, black-necked
cranes or white storks.
JIUZHAIGOU
VALLEY
Stretching over the northern part of Sichuan in the
Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture of Aba, the
vast expanse of Jiuzhaigou Valley offers spectacular
landscapes with alpine features including crystal clear
lakes, snow-capped mountains and lush forests. Its natural
reserve is home to more than 140 species of birds and
numerous endangered animals, including the giant panda.
The remoteness of the region has so
far kept it from becoming a major tourist destination,
and the valleys scattered with Tibetan prayer wheels
and stupas are a reminder of its strong Tibetan character.
On this trip, you will hike along the trail taken by
the lumbermen in the 1970’s who ‘discovered’
Jiuzhaigou. Walking along the Y-shaped gully, one of
the 'nine stockade gullies' from which the name of the
area derives, you will see many of its countless waterfalls
and serene lakes.
Please note that this trip is only available from 1 May to 31 October.

well as distant mountains - are reflected. A walk by the
lake will explain a local saying - that birds fly in water
while fish swim in the sky. Afterwards, visit the Pearl
Shoal Waterfall, so called as this gushing waterfall
