Siem Reap Holidays

Siem Reap is probably best known for its proximity to the Angkor temple complex and is indeed an excellent base from which to explore not only the temples but the surrounding countryside. What was a sleepy riverside town is now a considerably larger affair and merits a little exploration of its own.

The pagoda of Wat Bo is in excellent condition and boasts some interesting murals depicting everyday Cambodian life and the town offers a few apsara dance schools offering traditional dance performances of a tradition that was almost lost to the country. The town has an excellent array of accommodation of all standards and some authentic restaurants offering tasty local Cambodian dishes.

Visitors can relax in the Royal Gardens located across from the historic Grand Hotel d’Angkor which are peaceful and well tended or explore the compact and easily negotiated Psar Chas market area for a good choice of souvenirs including traditional colourful throws found only in Siem Reap.
