North Koreans generally love table tennis – proposing an international tournament to be played in your hotel will likely be very popular, and whilst this is good for international friendship don’t be too upset by what will be your inevitable crushing defeat!

Chongjin City Breaks

Chongjin is one of the least accessible cities on our North Korea tour itineraries and can only be reached via a specially chartered flight. The city is still relatively restricted to tourists and there aren’t a plethora of sights to see here, with the Steelworks Kindergarten and town museum the only places that foreigners are allowed into. But the main attraction of Chongjin is the pioneering spirit a visit here evokes; you will feel a million miles away from the pageantry of Pyongyang and it is highly unlikely that you’ll encounter any other tourists as only a small number of operators, including Regent Holidays, are allowed to come here.

A visit to Chongjin is usually combined with a visit to the relaxed coastal city of Chilbo and the volcanic Mt. Baekdu, while the drive here via some attractive coastline scenery is extremely pleasant.
