Minsk City Breaks
Dig deep to discover the fun and charm of Minsk. You will think you have stepped back to Soviet times with its Communist-era blocks and statue of Lenin in Independence Square but this is part of Minsk’s attractions. Follow a route from Independence Square to October Square and get your fill of Stalin-era grandiose gems including the Post Office, GUM Department Store and Palace of Culture. Take a tour to the intriguing Stalin Line, fortifications to protect the Soviet Union from Western aggression. The city comes alive at night where you will be pleasantly surprised by its fine restaurants and buzzing live music venues.

After your fill of Soviet-era attractions, you will be surprised at the bewildering selection of freshly brewed beer at the Rakovsky Brovar microbrewery. As you sup a thirst-quenching beer watch the next batch brewed through the glass-sided microbrewery. Before those powerful beers ‘hit the spot’ too quickly have a meal in their popular restaurant, much frequented by Minsk residents.
When to go...
Still relatively off-the-beaten-tourist track, Minsk isn't quite overwhelmed with festivals and events. For the nostalgic amongst us, 9th May is Victory Day, celebrating victory in the Great Fatherland War (World War II) and veterans parade in the centre of Minsk.
