Sariwon City Breaks

Those on a shorter tour to North Korea who wish to sample a somewhat more down-to-earth Korean experience than that offered by Pyongyang often find themselves in Sariwon. Located about one hour’s drive south of the capital, Sariwon is a typical and easily accessible North Korean city where the focus is more on industrious hard work than impressing tourists. As such, there is not much by way of spectacular sights, but the town itself is clean and pleasant enough to just stroll around and soak up some North Korean authenticity. A tour in Sariwon usually includes a visit to the fish farm and the co-operative farm where you can see workers going about their everyday lives, and to the picturesque Sariwon Folk Customs Village which houses some traditional Korean buildings and provides an opportunity for a leisurely mingle with the locals.

Surrounded by bucolic countryside, Sariwon is also an ideal base from which to explore rural North Korea as well as the border city of Kaeson.
