Sisimiut lies immediately north of the Arctic Circle and is the northernmost town in Greenland with an ice-free harbour in the winter and in winter and spring you can go dog sledding. Greenland's second largest town, Sisimiut has a rich history of whaling and colonialism but today is a modern Greenlandic town. In winter, groups of snowboarders and snowmobile teams mix with dog sled drivers, while the hills and fjords are alive with hikers and visitors from cruising and boats.
