Tibet City Breaks

A tour to China provides travellers with the ideal opportunity to visit the exalted and controversial region of Tibet. Hidden away on a vast Himalayan plateau at an altitude of 4000m, Tibet is not exactly easy to reach at the best of times, and with access strictly controlled by the Chinese government it is enough to put off many potential visitors from even trying. But all the red tape and overly-inquisitive officials in the world shouldn’t stop you from attempting to visit this mythical and beautiful place as you will ultimately be rewarded with an unparalleled and unforgettable travel experience.

The heart and main attraction of Tibet is its wondrous capital, Lhasa. Home to Dalai Lamas for centuries before the current one was forced to leave in 1959, Lhasa is rich with stunningly unique religious and historical sights such as the immense Potala Palace, the dazzling Jokhang Temple and colourful Barkhor. Outside of Lhasa, enjoy breathtaking views of Mt Everest from the Rongphu Monastery and marvel at the awe-inspiring 15th-century Kumbum Chorten in Gyantse.
