Torun City Breaks

Torun is a magnificently well-preserved city picturesquely located on the banks of the Vistula River. Left largely undamaged by World War II, it is one of the only cities in Poland where centuries-old Gothic architecture still stands in its original and true form; particularly in the UNESCO-listed Old Town which has been virtually unchanged since the 15th-century.

Established by the Teutonic Knights in 1233, Torun is rich in history and is also the birthplace of the famous astronomer Nicolaus Copernicus – whose home and the chapel where he was christened still remain standing today. Somewhat off the beaten track tourism-wise, Torun is an uncrowded and peaceful place to immerse yourself in some authentic history and culture while on a tour to Poland.
