Travelling by hot-air balloon over the 3000+ temples and stupas of Bagan was an unforgettable experience! Drifting over a panorama of thousands of ancient pagodas, silent in the shadow of low-slung mountains with the spectacular back-drop of the Irawaddy River was such a remarkable sight and one that I would definitely recommend be part of any holiday to Myanmar!

About Vietnam

The problem with Vietnam is knowing what to see as it has it all. Whether you want dynamic cities, sleepy hill stations, floating markets, trekking in hill tribe country, train travel, boat trips or beaches, it is all possible in Vietnam.

The traditional still outweighs the modern in Vietnam and in Ho Chi Minh City the sparkling high rises have clusters of tiny shops, temples and colonial architecture at their feet. Hanoi, a city of lakes boasts the fascinating Old Quarter, with its impossibly narrow tube houses and street vendors hawking their wares. Admire the skills of the Mekong Delta boatmen as they navigate through hundreds of small boats nipping around. Contrast this with the tranquillity of Halong Bay as you serenely sail through thousands of atmospheric limestone islets.

Gain insight into the imperial past in Hue with the royal palace and mausoleums and indulge yourself in the narrow traffic-free streets of Hoi An crammed with shops and tailors. Hike into rice-terraced valleys around Sapa where life continues unchanged for the colourful hill tribes, join the Reunification Express train, admire the faded French villas in Dalat, clamber through the narrow tunnels at Cu Chi and chill out on the unspoilt tropical coastline.
