When in Bucharest visit our favourite museum Muzeul Taranului Roman. First-rate exhibits depict the diversity and history of life around the country over the past few centuries. Leave some time for the Communist Iconography Museum, a compact but fascinating cellar room within the Peasant Museum, which features a collection of communist-era busts, paintings and nostalgic memorabilia.

About Romania

Romania might be a EU member but so much of the country remains in a bucolic time warp. Here you will find a land of densely forested mountains, deep gorges, medieval towns, Black Sea resorts and fairytale castles. Stay in Communist-era hotels where the service has still not improved or enjoy the standards of more international-class hotels.

Bucharest is a city of contrasts with the colossal Palace of Parliament and glorious Belle Epoque architecture. A major draw for visitors is Transylvania, immortalised in legend, literature and film as the land of Dracula. Its rugged mountains and inviting valleys are home to medieval towns and idyllic villages, where locals still wear traditional costume as they walk beside their horse-drawn carts. Unleash your imagination as you visit fanciful Bran Castle, inspiration as the abode of  vampires, but soon you will be charmed by beautifully preserved hilltop Sighisoara and the walled town of Sibiu crammed with colourful houses.

Make time to visit the painted monasteries of Bucovina where colourful frescoes cover the exterior and interior of the buildings. After all this exploring treat your aching limbs to a well deserved dip in a thermal spring or mud bath.

Regent Holidays can book city breaks in Bucharest and arrange group tours, individual tours and fly-drive holidays throughout Romania.
