The Sami people of northern Europe
have travelled by reindeer sled for many
centuries. This half-day cultural encounter
with members of a herding family provides
an insight into their traditional way of life
- visit a Sami camp and enjoy a very special
thirty-minute sled ride through the snow,
pulled by one of the family’s working
reindeer. Afterwards, join your Sami guide
in a lavvu (traditional tent) to listen to folk
tales and joik singing around the campfire
with a bowl of hot bidos soup. Choose
from a daytime encounter or evening visit
– when the magical northern lights may
even be seen swirling overhead.
