Georgians are fiercely
proud and independent people and the welcome you
will receive to their once again free country will
be truly genuine. Tbilisi, the capital, is a cultured
city with carved balconies clinging to houses huddled
together along narrow streets and a profusion of
churches, mosques and synagogues.
Tourism
throughout Georgia is undeveloped, the infrastucture
is in a poor state of repair and accommodation is
in either small guesthouses or with families, giving
you a unique insight into life here. But
what small inconveniences for such an opportunity
to see the 3rd century BC cave city of Uplis-Tsikhe,
travel the Georgian Military Highway or enjoy the
villages and stone watchtowers of the Caucasus Mountains. As you sip a glass
of organic Georgian wine you may wonder if it is
this drink that allows many Georgians to live to
well over a hundred years of age!
