Holidays
in Georgia - Tour Itineraries
A 9 day tour of Georgia, specifically
sampling the food & wine of the region from £1445
per person
One of the highlights of travelling
is tasting local food and drinks and Georgia is blessed
with such abundance of delicious dishes and a great
history of wine. Traditional feasts called supra, are
overlooked by a tamada and fulfilling one's role as
a tamada (toast master) is an art form in itself. A
good tamada is a poet, wit, philosopher, social commentator,
orator and singer who creatively improvises a beautiful
atmosphere of community, camaraderie and love through
his toasts.
On this new tour you will not only see
some of the main sights but taste a vast number of delicious
foods in restaurants, private homes and al fresco picnics.
Our favourite dishes are pkhali (young spinach leaves,
pounded together with spices), satsivi (a delicious
rich walnut sauce flavoured with herbs and garlic) and
khachapuri (waist-expanding layers of flat bread alternated
with melting cheese). There will also be plenty of opportunity
to sample lots of wine. There are between 500 to 1,000
grape varieties in Georgia and practically each village
produces its own wine. Gaumarjos! (Cheers!).
