Once a wealthy German port and university town called Königsberg, Kaliningrad changed beyond recognition under Soviet control. The enclave is separated from mother Russia by hundreds of miles of Lithuanian and Belarussian soil.

Tourism is slowly developing, as people come to see this fascinating place struggling to survive under capitalism. Amid the austere Soviet architecture, there are still suggestions of a more creative German past. Picturesque Königsberg buildings, such as the cathedral, become even more appealing amid a sea of monotonous concrete. Whilst the region's Baltic cousins have embraced modern European culture with a vengeance, this unique enclave appears hesitant to sever links with its Soviet past.

Regent recommends... taking the electric train to the seaside town of Svetlogorsk. Walk along shady lanes lined with attractive wooden villas to the wide sandy beach or simply relax on one of
the busy cafés sampling local pubo!

Hotel Albertina

This is a small, friendly three-star hotel located in the historical, green part of the city, on tram route no. 8.

It is situated about 10 minutes by car from the city centre and has 10 spacious rooms, some with balconies. The hotel also has a restaurant and a sauna with a small plunge pool.

Hotel Moskva

A popular choice with our clients - the Moskva Hotel is located on the edge of the city centre, not far from the Zoo.

Built in 1930 and fully renovated in 2003. The 171 rooms are modern and light using cream and maroon light and have TV.

Triumph Palace Hotel

This newly opened centrally located hotel is the only official five-star hotel in Kaliningrad.

There are modern 72 rooms, that have internet connection, air-conditioning, TV, mini-bar and safe. Facilities include restaurant, lobby-bar, sky-bar, conference hall and small health club (sauna and small swimming pool).
