An 8 day tour including a horse
trek in Mongolia

Suggested Itinerary
|
| Day 1 |
Arrive in Ulaanbaatar
and transfer to the Zaluuchuud Hotel, located near
the National University of Mongolia. After some
time relaxing at the hotel commence a guided city
tour of the city, with visits to the National History
Museum, Natural Museum, Gandan Monastery and Sukhbaatar
square. |
| Day 2 |
This morning we depart Ulaanbaatar
(Red Hero) and head east into the Khan Khentii Mountain
range. Upon arrival at the Steppe
Nomad Ger Camp (see picture of a Ger camp
above) in the Gun-Galuut Nature Reserve enjoy lunch.
The rest of the afternoon will be at leisure in
the stunning area, spending the night in a traditional
Ger. In the afternoon you will be free to hike,
visit a nomadic family or relax however you please. |
| Day 3 |
Today we will trek to Mt.
Baits and Berkh along the beautiful river
Kherlen, home of the endangered Argali, a variety
of wild mountain sheep. The area is truly stunning
and is a habitat for animals such as the Grey Wolf,
Mongolian Marmot and White Gazelle. Whilst on the
route we may encounter the White Napped Crane, an
extremely rare species. We will camp in a tent at
a scenic spot. |
| Day 4 |
Today we will be met by horses and wranglers
who will ride with us further into the mountains
to explore the nature reserve. During the day
we will also visit a nomadic family for an insight
into traditional Mongolian life. We will also
pass some ancient grave mounds which can be found
in the area before spending a second night camping
in tents.

| Day 5 |
Today we will continue our horseback journey
in the mountains, spending the night camping in
tents.
|
| Day 6 |
This morning we ride back to our Ger Camp of
the 29th May, where we will have the opportunity
to fish and swim after lunch. We will spend the
evening at the camp.
|
| Day 7 |
This morning leave the mountains behind and make
the two hour journey back to Ulaanbaatar,
where we will arrive in the afternoon. On checking
into the Zaluuchuud Hotel you will be free to relax
or further explore the city. |

Day 8
|
This morning transfer to the airport/railway
station for the onward journey.
