Tour Itinerary

Arrive in Vilnius. Transfer to the hotel and check in for an overnight stay. Attend a welcome meeting.
Vilnius is known for its more than 1.200 medieval buildings and 48 churches. The morning sightseeing tour includes a panoramic tour of the city and a walking tour of the Old Town with Vilnius Cathedral, Gediminas Tower, Peter and Paul Church, St. Anna's Church, Old University and the Gates of Dawn. In the afternoon continue to Trakai, the medieval capital of Lithuania, with the well preserved Trakai Castle, beautifully located on an island in Lake Galve. Enjoy a 15 km biking tour in the surroundings of Trakai before heading to Kaunas for a short stroll in the Old Town with its elegant Old Town Hall and Gothic cathedral. Check in to the hotel for an overnight stay.
Continue the tour in the direction of the Curonian Spit, a 100 km spit of land between the Baltic Sea and the Curonian Lagoon with small fishing villages, pine forests and endless sand dunes. Take the ferry from Klaipeda to the Spit and on to Nida. With it location at the Curonian Lagoon and its combination of old-fashioned fishing village and fashionable sea resort, Nida is one of the most attractive places on the entire Baltic Sea Coast. Visit the High Dunes, Thomas Mann's summerhouse and get acquainted with the charming resort town. In the late afternoon enjoy a 30 km biking tour from Nida to Juodkrante before returning to Klaipeda. Check in to the hotel for an overnight stay.
Klaipeda first became a part of Lithuania in 1923 and has a long history as a German town called Memel. The sightseeing tour visits the Old Town with its narrow cobblestone streets and old guild houses and we visit the Theatre Square and the Aennchen von Tharau Fountain. Cycle for 30 km to Palanga to visit the Botanical Gardens and the Amber Museum in the former Tiskevicius Palace before continuing into Latvia to arrive in Liepaja. Check into the hotel for an overnight stay.
Liepaja takes its name from the numerous lime trees in the city and we start the day with a short stroll in the Old Town with its Trinity Church. Travel through the former Duchy of Courland to Kemeri to enjoy a 25 km biking tour through the Kemeri National Park. The rest of the day is spent for visiting Jurmala, the vibrant Latvian sea resort, famous for its wooden architecture and sandy beaches. We reach Riga early in the late afternoon. Check in to the hotel for an overnight stay.
Riga founded in 1201 by the German bishop Albert is the largest of the 3 Baltic capitals and boasts a true kaleidoscope of various architectural styles. The walking tour of the Old Town includes Riga Castle, Dome Cathedral, St. Peter's Church, Swedish Gates, Three Brothers, Large and Small Guild House and the Freedom Monument. In the afternoon continue to Saulkrasti and embark on a 30 km biking tour to Sigulda, a popular holiday resort. See the ruins of the Episcopal Castle and of the Castle of the Knights of the Sword. Continue to Cesis and check in to the hotel for an overnight stay.
Cesis is a Hanseatic city with winding streets, castle ruins and beautiful gardens. During the morning tour, see the ruins of the Castle of the Livonian Order and St. John's Church. Head to Estonia and the Hanja Nature Park for a 30 km biking tour through the park and around the Munamagi Hill, the biggest hill in the Baltic countries at just 300 m. Continue on to Tartu and check in to the hotel for an overnight stay.
Tartu is the university town where Estonia gained its statehood. During the morning tour we visit the charming Old Town and the University founded in 1632. Travel to Lake Peipus and in the middle of the day for a 40 km biking tour from Kolka via Kallaste to Raja along the lake. Drive to the Lahemaa National Park and check in for an overnight stay.
The day starts with a 45 km biking tour through Lahemaa National Park from Vihula via Sagadi and Palmse to Kasmu and the Kasmu Peninsula and afterwards we continue to Tallinn. Tallinn is a charming blend of medieval tranquillity and modern urban life. The medieval Old Town is a busy place in the summer with its many shops, galleries, souvenir markets, out-doors cafes and restaurants. Tour the old medieval city walls and into the Old Town. Thank you Jurate for all the arrangements you made for us. Transport worked well and hotels were good, especially the Hotel Justus in Riga (excellent, beautifully developed and decorated). Hotel positions were all excellent.

R. Burgess

Had a small problem with the evening meals but this was addressed with a full refund of full board payment - thank you! Apart from this I very much enjoyed this trip - the cities visited were very attractive and the hotels we stayed in first class.

Mr D Tutill

Good value for money. Excellent guide in Tallinn

P. Clark

Once again our special thanks to Jurate. Her help and attention to detail during the Volcanic Ash episode reduced any anxiety to a minimum. We enjoyed our holiday, even though out time in Tallinn had to be cut short. The staff at the Justus Hotel in Riga were particularly helpful and caring.

S. Hogan

Local guides were excellent. The tour group was interesting - multi-national when I'd imagined it would all be British people, this added a different dimension to the holiday. Information and maps sent out from Regent Holidays were very helpful. It was good to be able to email Jurate with any queries.

Ms C Rogers

We have found Jurate's helpfulness and suggestions invaluable. Despite temperatures down to minus 22, we found plenty to do. Our transfer at Riga worked well and hotels were ideally situated. Generally friendly, helpful hotel staff...a holiday to remember and savor.

Mr J M Pennock

The Mabre Residence Hotel in Vilnius had very helpful staff, all the hotels were well situated. Overall we had a thoroughly enjoyable holiday.

The Mabre Residence is an excellent hotel in all aspects. It’s comfortable and well-equipped the staff were friendly, with a quiet lovely historic atmosphere and is ideally situated.

I would like to express a special thank you to Joanne Wheeler for her dedicated personal service from start to finish. Nothing was too much trouble.

Eating out in Vilnius proved to be a memorable and rewarding experience, and remarkably good value. I expect most people will enjoy making their own discoveries, but our very special favourite was the ‘Holy Miko’s’ in SV Mykolo – just round the corner from the Mabre Residence. Delicious food, wonderful atmosphere and delightful staff.

This is our third Regent Holiday; it follows the same quality that we experienced on the previous holidays. We appreciated being met on arrival and take to our accommodation. The people in the field were very helpful and we experienced no problems. Thanks to your staff for making the whole experience possible.
