On this 8-day tailor-made tour, with private transfers and guides, discover the highlights of Montenegro from the mountains to the coast. In Budva and Kotor, uncover the history of the ancient walled towns whilst soaking up spectacular Adriatic views. Travelling inland, discover the incredible cliff-hanging pilgrimage site of Ostrog Monastery and the dramatic national parks; in Biogradska Gora National Park a jeep safari takes in Bjelasica Mountain and picturesque villages. A visit to a winery in Limljani provides the opportunity to try local wines, meats, olives and cheeses.

DAY 1
FLY TO DUBROVNIK
FLY TO DUBROVNIK
Fly to Dubrovnik and transfer across the border into Montenegro and onto Kotor. Along the way stop off in the lovely Baroque town of Perast, where you can take a boat trip out to the Island of ‘Our Lady of the Rocks’, which came to be from the purposeful sinking of seized ships. Continue onto Kotor and check-in to your hotel for an overnight stay.
DAY 2
KOTOR TO PODGORICA
KOTOR TO PODGORICA
After breakfast, begin the days’ exploration of the UNESCO World Heritage town of Kotor. Kotor is a lovely town to discover, with intricate marble streets that lead to peaceful shady piazzas. The Square of arms is a perfect place for enjoying a morning coffee. Highlights of Kotor include Flour Square with Pima and Buca Palaces and the Clock Tower. After the city tour, continue towards the old capital city of Cetinje with a stop en-route in Njegusi village, where you will sample the delicious, locally produced, meats and cheeses. On arrival in Cetinje, take a look around King Nicola’s Museum which is home to many interesting artifacts documenting Montenegro’s tumultuous history. Arrive in Podgorica and check-in to the hotel. DAY 3
PODGORICA TO ZABLJAK
PODGORICA TO ZABLJAK
Today will be spent travelling northwards towards the mountain town of Zabljak. The first stop of the day will be at the extraordinary Ostrog Monastery. The drive up is an exhilarating experience and the views once at the top are stunning. The monastery itself was built in the 17th Century by one of the four Montenegrin Saints, Vladika St. Vasilije and today is a popular pilgrimage site for followers of the Orthodox religion. Continue onto the town of Pluzine and the Piva Lake and Monastery, located along the ring of Durmitor. Arrive in Zabljak and check-in to hotel for overnight stay. (B)
DAY 4
ZABLJAK TO KOLASIN
ZABLJAK TO KOLASIN
Embark on a walk this morning around the sparkling Black Lake of Durmitor National Park. The lake is the central focal point of Durmitor and looks beautiful reflecting in the changing seasonal light and can vary quite vastly in colour because of its varying degrees of depth. After lunch in Zabljak, move on towards Kolasin via the Tara River Canyon and the impressive Djurdjevica Bridge. The canyon is the deepest in Europe at 4,265 foot. From the bridge, watch rafters float by below, whilst daredevils wizz past on the canyon spanning zip wire. Continue on to Kolasin, the gateway to Biogradska Gora Nation Park. On arrival, check-in to your hotel for a two night stay. (B,L,D)
DAY 5

KOLASIN
Today you will explore the Bjelasica Mountain Massif by jeep safari. Bjelasica surrounds Biogradska Gora National Park, which is one of the last remaining primeval forests in Europe. Travel through mountain villages, stopping for lunch at a local village restaurant. Drive past vast forests, rippling rivers, glacial fed lakes and meadows covered with wild flowers. Return to Kolasin and overnight. (B,L,D)
DAY 6
KOLASIN TO BUDVA
KOLASIN TO BUDVA
After breakfast, head towards the coastal town of Budva via the beautiful Lake Skadar, the larges lake in the Balkans. Stop at a local winery in the village of Limljani. Sample the local wine that the Lake Skadar region is famous for and receive a demonstration in wine making techniques. Budva is 2,500 years old and is located on the central part of the Montenegrin coast. Explore the charming Old Town with its medieval walls, cobbled lanes and small shady piazzas. Visit the churches of St Trojica, St Ivan, St Bogorodica and St Sava Long Mediterranean summers mean lazy, heat-hazed evenings spent sipping delicious white Krstac wine accompanied by freshly-caught fish. Spend two nights at a hotel in Budva. (B)
DAY 7
BUDVA
 BUDVA
Visit the Sveti Stefan region this morning and wander through the villages of Przno and Sveti Stefan. Sveti Stefan is home to the exclusive Aman Resort, located on its own private island, and linked to the mainland by a traffic free causeway. You will have the chance to arrange your pass onto this island by booking a lunch at one of the resorts restaurants. Book early to avoid disappointment. Return to Budva in the afternoon for some relaxation at one of the many beaches in the area or to soak up some more of the old town’s atmosphere. (B)

FLY TO UK
Transfer back to the airport for return flight. (B)
