Tour Itinerary

Fly to Vagar. Collect your hire car at the airport and spend the rest of the day at leisure. On arrival visit the small village of Gasadalur and Bo and enjoy the impressive view over Tindholmur. Leave Vagar via the sub-sea tunnel to Streymoy and drive towards the bridge crossing the North Atlantic Ocean. Reach Eysturoy where you may stop by the bridge and take some photos. Transfer and overnight at your hotel in Eysturoy.
Drive through the sub-sea tunnel - decorated with lights by the famous Faroese artist Trondur Patursson - to the town of Klaksvik. On arrival embark on a brisk walk to the top of Klakkur and enjoy a magnificent view of the Kunoyarnes, Haraldsund and the town of Klaksvik itself. For lunch Regent recommends Jorun's Bakery in Klaksvik where you can enjoy a fantastic view over the fjord Bordoyarvik. In the afternoon, perhaps visit the Northern Island of Kunoy and its tiny village where you have an excellent view of the island of Kalsoy. In the evening, on your way back to Eysturoy, stop at the village of Fuglafjordur and have a stroll along the local harbour or visit the Arts and Crafts Centre located in an old historic building. Continue to the village of Soldafjordur to meet the Faroese and enjoy a coffee and cake in a private home. Overnight at your hotel in Eysturoy. (B)
En route to Torshavn visit the small villages of Tjornuvik and see the impressive rock formations - the Giant and the Witch. In Tjornuvik it is possible to book ahead a private guided tour to learn more about the village's history, how the Viking graves were found. Continue to the picturesque village of Saksun whose bay used to be a protected natural harbour, but today its entrance is blocked by sand. In the afternoon, reach Torshavn and spend the rest of the day at leisure exploring the city. Walk through the old quarters of Tinganes and Reyn, with their narrow alleys and charming houses with grass roofs. Have a stroll along the harbour and visit Ostrom where you may buy contemporary Faroese art and fine craft. Overnight at your hotel in Torshavn. (B, D)
Spend the whole day at leisure exploring Torshavn and its surroundings. Regent recommends to visit the village of Kirkjubour - which is the Faroe Islands' historical and cultural centre - with its picturesque old farm, the unfinished Magnus Cathedral and the small medieval church of St. Olav. In Torshavn, perhaps visit the Art Museum which hosts a wide collection of Faroese art and continue to the Nordic House where you may have your lunch or coffee. In the afternoon, you may also visit the National Museum that houses discoveries from the ancient Vikings to the famous Kirkjubo chairs that were part of the furnishing of the Magnus Cathedral in Kirkjubour. (B)
Return the hire car at the airport and fly back to the UK. (B)
