This individual itinerary includes a trip part way on an amazing train journey from Belgrade to Bar – 476 kilometres of stunning mountain ranges and canyons, a really thrilling experience. Please note that this train is very basic and the rolling stock is very old but for the adventurous traveller – the views on this trip are worth it!

Return flights in economy class with British Airways direct from London Heathrow/return to London Gatwick. All airport taxes and security charges. Accommodation in three/four-star hotels with breakfast (B = Breakfast, L = Lunch, D = Dinner). First class train tickets Budapest-Belgrade, Belgrade-Kolasin. Transfer from Kolasin to Budva.

Free day to explore Budapest, Hungary's progressive capital city. (B)
BUDAPEST TO BELGRADE
Take the train from Budapest to Belgrade, transfer to hotel for 2 nights. (B)
BELGRADE
Free day to explore one of Europe’s oldest cities. Belgrade is an incredibly rich mosaic of different cultures, influences and styles with a mysterious and exotic atmosphere. Don’t miss visiting the Kalemegdan Fortress in the Old Town, dramatically situated at the confluence of the Sava and Danube Rivers. (B)
BELGRADE TO KOLASIN
This morning, embark on the amazing train journey that will take you to the heart of Montenegrin mountains. Green mountains and valleys, dotted with waterfalls and villages. The Montenegro stretch of railway is particularly spectacular, through tunnels and over bridges perched on mountainsides. Arrive Kolasin and check-in to hotel for overnight stay. (B)
KOLOSIN TO BUDVA
Transfer from Kolasin to Budva and check-in to hotel for 2 nights. (B)
BUDVA
Free day in Budva to explore its narrow alleys and many churches in Stari Grad (literally Old Town). Don’t miss the Church of St. Ivan with its marvellous mosaics. Take a boat ride to St. Nikola Island (just a nautical mile away) for spectacular views of the Budva Riviera. (B)
BUDVA TO KOTOR
Take a local bus from Budva to Kotor – there are many departures a day and the journey takes round 1½ hours but remember to leave yourself time to explore the walled Old Town of Kotor. Check-in to hotel for overnight stay. (B)
KOTOR TO DUBROVNIK
Take the local bus from Kotor to Dubrovnik along the fantastic coastal road past Perast and Herceg Novi, just before the border with Croatia. There are several departures a day and the journey takes around 2½ hours. Arrive in Dubrovnik and check-in to hotel for 3 nights. (B)
DUBROVNIK
Free day to explore this magnificent UNESCO World Heritage Site. Alternate your sightseeing tours with some time to relax on the beach or perhaps spend a day taking an Island Cruise to the Elafiti Islands. (B)
DUBROVNIK
Free day in Dubrovnik. (B)
FLY TO UK
Free morning or day, depending on the time of the flight back to the UK. (B)
