Fly UK/Iceland. Collect hired vehicle on arrival at Keflavik International Airport. Overnight FossHotel Reykjavik.
Depart Reykjavik by way of Route 1 via Hvalfjordur Fjord driving through the lush farmlands to the Borgarfjordur District continuing North to your overnight accommodation at Dalvik. Overnight Fosshotel Dalvik.
Visit Akureyri known as the ‘Capital of the North’ and Godafoss the ‘Waterfall of the Gods’ before exploring the natural wonders of Lake Myvatn. Alternatively during the period mid June – August (4WD necessary) explore the Tjornes Peninsula and Asbyrgi, the horse-shoe shaped canyon, along with Dettifoss - Europe’s mightiest waterfall Overnight Fosshotel Laugar/Husavik. Optional Activity: Whale Watching Boat Trip from Husavik Harbour.
Long drive today, enjoy the dramatic landscape and fishing villages of the East Fjords before reaching Europe’s largest glacier ‘Vatnajokull’ and an overnight stay in the region of Hornafjordur. Overnight Fosshotel near Hofn.
