Our most popular Russian River Cruise - all aboard the M/S Shashkov or the M/S Chernishevsky to sail from Russia’s cosmopolitan capital, Moscow, to imperial St Petersburg, exploring beautiful Russian landscapes and ancient towns in between. M/S Shashkov and M/S Chernishevsky are really good 3-star four deck vessels featuring comfortable outside cabins with air conditioning, offering majestic views of the passing countryside. Continental and Russian cuisine as well as specialities of the surrounding regions are served on board. With plenty of cruising time guests can relax in the sauna and enjoy the music room, dance hall and on board evening entertainment.

Embark on a tour of the capital by coach. Visit Red Square, admire the multi-domed St. Basil’s Cathedral, and discover the Lenin Mausoleum and the Bolshoi Theatre. (B,L,D)

UGLICH
Despite its name, Uglich is one of Russia’s most picturesque towns and is best viewed from the river. Visit the renowned green-domed Cathedral of Transfiguration and the Church of St. Dmitry on the Blood. In the evening enjoy a gala dinner hosted by the Captain. (B,L,D)

Arrive in the historic city of Yaroslavl, located at the confluence of the Volga and Kotorosi Rivers. On a sightseeing tour by bus see the 17th century Church of Elijah the Prophet which stands in the city’s centre and is Yaroslavl’s most beautiful church. Visit the church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker and embark on an interactive tour of the former Governor’s house (B,L,D)

GORITSY
The ship arrives in Goritsy in the afternoon. Here, enjoy an excursion to Kirillo-Belozerksy Monastery. This incredible medieval complex stretches out along the shore of the Siverskoye Lake and is one of the largest and best preserved buildings in northern Russia. (B,L,D)

KIZHI ON LAKE ONEGA

The ship reaches the tiny fairytale island of Kizhi on the northern shore of Lake Onega. Explore the open-air Museum of Wooden Architecture, a fascinating collection of over 90 historic wooden buildings, and discover the beautiful Church of the Transfiguration. (B,L,D)

Spend the morning at the Hermitage Museum exploring the world’s largest collection of artefacts including sculptures, archaeological finds and paintings from famous artists such as Van Gogh and Rembrandt. There are a large number of ships plying the Russian waterways, especially between Moscow and St Petersburg. However, most ships follow similar itineraries and offer a comparable standard of accommodation and tours. M/S Shashkov

M/S Shashkov is a four deck vessel built in Germany in 1986 (project 302), refurbished in 2013. It is equipped with modern navigation devices and can reach the speed up to 25.5 km per hour (around 17 mph). Its length is 129 metres, width is 16.7 metres, and immersion is 2.9 metres. The boat can accommodate up to 280 passengers.

The ship features outside cabins with air-conditioning, affording majestic views of the passing countryside. The dining room offers Continental and Russian cuisine, as well as the specialities of the surrounding regions. There are 2 restaurants (one restaurant and one bar-restaurant), bars, a small souvenir shop, and sauna. Laundry service is also available. Parties, games, dancing and shipboard entertainment all serve to ensure a memorable cruise.
