South to North Greenland by Air

Combine South Greenland and West Greenland with a stay in Nuuk on this unique hoilday to Greenland. Internal travel is by plane and helicopter where you can marvel at the icy, remote and rugged landscape below. Enjoy 4 nights in Ilulissat, where you can take various excursions to see calving glaciers, witness local Inuit life, helicopter over the stunning ice fjords and marvel at the stunning scenery of the West.

DAY 1
FLY TO NARSARSUAQ
FLY TO NARSARSUAQ
Fly to Narsarsuaq from Reykjavik's Keflavik Airport. On arrival transfer to the pier and travel by boat across Eric's Fjord to Narsaq. On arrival meet your local Greenland guide and transfer to hotel for 2 nights. After a brief welcome meeting enjoy an excursion around the town with the guide. (B)

After breakfast, why not book an optional excursion and embark on a leisurely guided hike to a non-excavated Viking ruin, exploring remains from the Inuit as well as the beautiful Arctic scenery. Or take a boat across the ice-filled Bredefjord to a fjord system northwest of Narsaq that leads up to the impressive Twin Glaciers, and go ashore on a small rock emerging from the glacier front. Explore another fjord with bird's cliffs, a large waterfall and stunning Arctic scenery. (B)

NARSAQ TO NUUK
Transfer to the heliport for helicopter transfer to Narsarsuaq for connecting flight to Nuuk. On arrival in Nuuk transfer to Hotel Hans Egede. Enjoy a city tour of Nuuk including a visit to the National Museum. (B)
DAY 4
NUUK TO ILULISSAT
NUUK TO ILULISSAT
Transfer to airport for Air Greenland flight to Ilulissat. Transfer to the Hotel Arctic and check in for 4 nights. Attend a welcome meeting before enjoying a walking tour of the town to learn about its history. (B,D)

ILULISSAT
Free day in Ilulissat to explore at leisure or take optional excursions. Why not take a boat trip to the small Inuit settlement of Oqaitsut, also known as Rodebay. This isolated village has a local population of around 40 people who are totally dependent on fishing and hunting. Enjoy a guided walk including lunch at the old trading station.

Or fly by helicopter over mountains and fjord systems before reaching Ilulissat Ice Fiord, which is now on the UNESCO World Heritage list. Land in front of the glacier wall and enjoy a glass of champagne before following the fjord 55km to the open sea and circle over the huge icebergs.

Free day in Ilulissat to explore at leisure or take optional excursions. Book an optional excursion and embark on a trip to Eqi, the only glacier in the Ilulissat area where it's possible to experience calving. Cruise in front of the 5 km-wide glacier for around one hour, hoping to witness the unique sight of an iceberg delivery. Continue to the small settlement of Ataa, the former trading station, and enjoy a delicious two course lunch including a glas of wine. On the return boat journey to Ilulissat it's often possible to spot whales among the icebergs.(B)

Free day in Ilulissat to explore at leisure or take optional excursions. If weather permits try a spot of fishing and sail to the fishing spot of the day, probably either near Bredebugt or at the mouth of the Ilulissat Ice Fiord. Fish for cod, halibut, redfish and catfish, while enjoying the stunning surroundings. (B)

FLY TO REYJAVIK
Transfer to the airport for the domestic flight back to Reykjavik. (B)
