On my last trip to Montenegro we had a wonderful meal on the Bojana River; about 30 minutes drive past Ulcinj, near the border with Albania. On both banks of the river there are small wooden houses on stilts. Many of these wooden houses have been converted into restaurants – Rio and Ponte. Some of them are very sophisticated and elegant i.e. Misko, but they all have one thing in common, in that they serve the most delicious fresh fish.

Montenegro Fly-Drives

A fly-drive holiday to Montenegro is a superb way of experiencing this absolute treasure of a country up close and at your own pace. Marvel at the awesome scenery of alpine peaks, swathes of verdant forests, glistening lakes, fast-flowing rivers, rolling, flowery meadows and dramatic coastline before arriving at one of Montenegro’s many ancient villages and towns with their charming medieval Old Towns, labyrinthine cobbled streets, ancient churches, breezy piazzas and plethora of excellent restaurants serving delicious seafood fresh from the Adriatic.

Discover the busy, centuries-old town of Budva before kicking back and admiring the views at the breathtaking Lake Skadar, take a stroll through one of Europe’s few remaining primeval forests at the gorgeous Biogradska Gora National Park, then explore the UNESCO-listed Old Town of Kotor - situated in one of the most beautiful bays in the world. Montenegro is undoubtedly one of the finest and most unique fly-drive holiday destinations.
