Suggested Itinerary

Day 1

MOSCOW
Arrive Moscow and transfer to hotel. Check-in for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2MOSCOW & TRAIN TO KAZAN
A full day sightseeing tour of Moscow. In the morning the tour travels along some of the most famous streets in Moscow - Peace Avenue, New Arbat Avenue and the banks of the River Moskva, as well as visiting Sparrow Hill and the White House. After lunch, visit Red Square and the Kremlin with its cathedrals and the famous Armoury. Transfer to the railway station for your private chartered train to Beijing.
Day 3KAZAN
Awake in Kazan, capital of the Tatarstan Autonomous Republic. Full day city tour including the impressive Kremlin with its sparkling onion domes and tall minarets. In the afternoon, enjoy a boat trip on the Volga River.
Day 4

EKATERINBURG
Awake in the wonderful capital of the Urals. Ekaterinburg was founded in 1723 by Peter the Great as the metallurgical centre of Russia. Your tour here will take you to the west of the city, to the obelisk that marks the geographical border between Europe and Asia. Also included is the Cathedral on the Blood built on the site where Tsar Nicholas II and his family were executed by the Bolsheviks in 1918.

Day 5NOVOSIBIRSK
At around midday the train rolls into Novosibirsk, Russia's third largest city and the largest Siberian city. Novosibirsk is an attractive city on the Ob River. Enjoy a city tour here, as well as an excursion to Akademgorodok (Academic City) and a boat trip on the River.

Day 6

ON BOARD
Enjoy a day resting on board or join in with the Russian language lessons, songs and informal lectures on Russian culture, history and traditions.

Day 7IRKUTSK AND LAKE BAIKAL
Morning arrival in Irkutsk, one of the oldest Siberian cities on the banks of the mighty Angara River. During the city tour, visit Kirov Square, the eternal flame and market before attending a private classical concert in the restored wooden residence of the Decembrist, Count Volkonsky.
Day 8CIRCUMBAIKAL LINE AND LAKE BAIKAL
Travel on the Circumbaikal line which used to link the East and West lines of the Trans-Siberian Railroad. This amazing architectural feat is not longer used for standard trains and follows the picturesque southern shore of Lake Baikal. Seeing Lake Baikal and dipping your toes into the unbelievably cold waters of this largest freshwater lake in the world, is a highlight of any Trans-Siberian Rail trip. Included is a picnic near the lake.
Day 9ULAN UDE
In the morning the train will arrive in Ulan Ude. Formerly a closed city for foreigners it is now the capital of the Buryat Autonomous Republic and home to the largest Lenin's head statue! Buryatia is also the centre of Buddhism in Russia and here you can visit the impressive Ivolginsky Datsan, as well as visit an Old Believer's village. In the late afternoon transfer back to your train and head for the Russia/Mongolia border at Naushki.
Day 10ULAANBAATAR & TERELJ NATIONAL PARK
Arrive in Ulaanbaatar and transfer to the stunning Terelj National Park. Here, your overnight accommodation will be in a ger camp. After lunch, see the famous Turtle Rock, visit a nomadic family in their ger to learn about their lifestyle and enjoy short hiking tours in the surrounding area.
Day 11TERELJ NATIONAL PARK
There will be a possibility for horse-riding in the morning before learning how to build and dissemble a smaller Mongolian ger. BBQ dinner at the camp before viewing the sunset in the wild open steppe. Late evening return to Ulaanbaatar. Check-in to hotel for overnight stay.
Day 12ULAANBAATAR
City tour of Ulaanbaatar including Sukhbaatar Square, Gandan Monastery and the National History Museum, where you can see 2 complete dinosaurs' skeletons. In the evening enjoy a performance of traditional Mongolian music and dance. Transfer to the railway station for departure to Beijing.
Day 13ERLIAN
Morning arrival to the Chinese border town of Erlian. It is here that the Russian railway gauge system changes to the Chinese system, a difference of 85mm. The Trans-Siberian Express terminates and your luggage will be transferred to the connecting Chinese train, whilst you enjoy a tour by rickshaw to a local market and a sumptuous Chinese lunch before continuing the fringes of the Gobi Desert to Beijing.
Day 14BEIJING
Morning arrival in Beijing. City tour of Beijing includes Tiananmen Square, Forbidden City and Summer Palace. Check-in to hotel for overnight stay. Farewell dinner in one of Beijing's famous duck restaurants.
Day 15DEPART BEIJING
Transfer to the airport or railway for onward travel.

On Board

This private train offers a number of first class compartments, deluxe compartments, a bar, 2 restaurant cars, as well as a shower car. In total the train carries a maximum of 150 passengers.

FIRST-CLASS COMPARTMENTS
Each car has 9 first-class compartments and each compartment has 2 lower beds (65x185cm). Toilets with wash basin are at either end of each car. The cars are air-conditioned whilst the train is moving.

DELUXE COMPARTMENTS
Each car has just 5 compartments and each compartment has 1 lower (120 x 190cm) and 1 upper bed (95cm x 190cm). The compartments are modern with toilet and en-suite shower. The cars are air-conditioned whilst the train is moving.

International Flights
These are not included as we tailor-make our Trans-Siberian quote for each client. Please talk to us about your flight requirements as we can book discounted flight tickets on a variety of carriers into Moscow and out of Beijing including British Airways and Aeroflot. British Airways fares start from £489 including all air-taxes.
