This group tour
covers the most remote, wild and charming part of the
country, the real Turkey, full of character,
Oriental reminiscences, warm people and powerfully striking
natural wonders.
These are guaranteed departure tours
operated in conjunction with our Turkish partners and
are not exclusive to Regent Holidays clients.
They operate with a minimum of 4 people but do not exceed
10 in order to keep a very individual and unique feeling
during the tour.

| Day 1 |
FLY TO ANKARA
Fly to Ankara and transfer to the hotel for overnight
stay. |
| Day 2 |
ANKARA TO CAPPADOCIA
Morning visit to the Museum of Anatolian Civilizations
and then drive to Cappadocia, once the heart of
the Hittite Empire and now renowned destination
of lunar landscapes. On arrival, stop at the underground
city of Kaymakli, where early Christians sought
refuge from persecution. En route to the hotel,
visit the natural citadels of Ortahisar and village
of Mustafapasa. Check-in hotel for 2 nights. |
| Day 3 |
CAPPADOCIA
Morning visit the Devrent Valley to see the unique
fairychimneys and the Zelve Open-air Museum where
three canyons meet in the valley. Drive to Pasabag
(Monks valley), to see the mushroom-shaped
pinnacles and then on to Avanos to shop for pottery.
In the afternoon visit the valley of Goreme where
the remains of rockcut churches and Christian settlements
date back hundreds of years. |
| Day 4 |
CAPPADOCIA TO KAHTA
Drive east to Kahta, stopping in Adiyaman and
at the Seljuk Karatayhan Caravanserai on the Silk
Road. Enjoy the scenery of rural Turkey and the
pretty peaks of the Taurus Mountains. After lunch
in the Tekir Forest, continue to Kahramanmaras,
a town famous for its ice cream! Arrive Kahta
and check-in hotel for overnight stay.

| Day 5 |
KAHTA TO SANLIURFA
An early start to climb Mount Nemrut for a breathtaking
view of the sunrise reflecting the pink and orange
shades on the huge stone heads on the terraces.
Stop at the capital of the Commagene Temple, Arsemia.
Head south and see the great Ataturk Dam before
reaching Harran, the famous city of Mesopotamia
near the border with Syria. Admire the mystical
and ancient village of these beehive dwellings
together with the first Islamic University. Back
in Sanliurfa, the birthplace of the prophet Abraham,
visit the main sites including the Halil Rahman
Mosque and the Firfirli Mosque. Check-in hotel
for overnight stay.

| Day 6 |
SANLIURFA TO BATMAN
At this point of the journey the flavour of the
Orient is powerful and enchanting. Leave Sanliurfa
and visit the marvellous ancient town of Mardin,
including the monasteries of Dar-el-Zafaran and
Mar Gabriel near Midyat, before heading to the
Sultan Isa Medresesi and the bazaar. In the afternoon,
tour Hasankeyf with its cave houses and the local
craftsman shops. Check-in hotel in Batman for
overnight stay.

| Day 7 |
BATMAN TO VAN
Visit the city of Ahlat, including Kumbet, the Selcuk
Cemetery and the local museum. Continue to Mt. Nemrut
East by dolmus (a typical Turkish mini-bus) and
enjoy a walk to the crater around the lake. In the
afternoon, reach Van. Check-in hotel for 3 nights. |
| Day 8 |
VAN
Morning sightseeing tour includes the Museum of
Van, Van Kalesi and the university. Afternoon boat
trip to Akdamar Island, where you can visit an exquisite
example of an Armenian church before continuing
to the fine Urartian Hosap Castle. |
| Day 9 |
VAN
Visit the Cavustepe Castle with the well-preserved
foundations of a Urartian palace. Afternoon optional
visits to Baskale and Yedikilise villages. |
| Day 10 |
VAN TO DOGUBEYAZIT
Drive to Dogubeyazit. The scenery is outstanding.
Visit Muradiye Waterfalls and the largest meteor
crater on earth, as well as what are said to be
the remains of Noahs Ark. Built in the 17th
and 18th centuries by two Ottoman governors, Ishka
Pasha Palace is a lovely combination of Selcuk,
Ottoman and Persian architectural styles. Check-in
hotel for overnight stay. |
| Day 11 |
DOGUBEYAZIT
TO KARS
Just outside Kars are the remains of Ani, the 10th
century capital of Armenia. A tour of Kars will
include the Church of the Apostles, Tas Kopru and
Kars Castle. Check-in hotel for overnight stay. |
| Day 12 |
KARS TO HOPA
Enjoy the charming scenery as you drive through
the Ardahan and Savsat areas, stopping at Yusufeli
and crossing Choruh River. Check-in hotel for overnight
stay. |
| Day 13 |
HOPA TO MACKA
Drive along Firtina River to the small town of Camlihemsin,
hike to Zil Castle and see Senyuva historical bridge.
Drive to Rize and then along the Black Sea coast
through forests and villages untouched by tourism
to Macka. Check-in hotel for 2 nights. |
| Day 14 |
TRABZON
Visit the busy town port of Trabzon, where you will
find excellent seafood restaurants and markets selling
glossy fruit and hazelnuts, the regional speciality.
You will see the Ayasofya Museum and Sumela Monastery
at the border with Macka Altindere Village on top
of a black hill. |
| Day 15 |
FLY TO UK
Transfer to Trabzon airport for flight back to the
UK via Istanbul. |
