Holidays
in Ukraine & Moldova - Tour Itineraries
An 9 day tour of Lviv and Western Ukraine from £1395 per person
This new individual itinerary has been specifically
designed to visit the relatively undiscovered region
of Western Ukraine, where you can see unique architecture
in the Old Habsburg town of Lviv, the twisted cupolas
of St Nicholas Cathedral in Chernivtsi and rolling green
hills and mountains of the Carpathians, where folk art
and traditions of ethnic groups such as the Hutsuls
have survived for centuries in the hidden valleys.
This itinerary features the expertise of our local
guide Roman, a native of Lviv. Roman has just finished
university and has been working successfully with our
clients for over 2 years. He will accompany you throughout
the tour, as well as organising a driver and private
car. His knowledge of Ukrainian history and culture,
combined with his friendly manner will certainly enhance
your holiday to Western Ukraine.

LVIV TO CHERNIVTSI
Drive to Chernivtsi via Ivano-Frankivsk and Kolomiya.
Kolomiya is a charming town and the gateway to
the Carpathians. Here, you visit Pysanka Museum
- a fanciful egg-shaped building, which stands
12 metres tall and houses the worlds largest
collection of handpainted Easter eggs, for which
Ukraine is known. We also include a visit to the
Museum of Hutsul Folk art and its displays of
intricately hand-made Hutsul clothing, recreations
of Hutsul dwellings and numerous regional Carpathian
ceramics and woodcarvings. Arrive Chernivtsi and
transfer Hotel Cheremosh for 3 nights.
|
| Day 4 |
CHERNIVTSI
Morning tour of Chernivtsi, including the Byzantinestyle
red-bricked university and the twisted cupolas
of St Nicholas. The city of Chernivtsi is located
in the foothills of the Carpathian Mountains,
on the banks of the River Prut. The town is an
old outpost of the Habsburg Empire and had a large
Armenian, Jewish and German population. This,
combined with the wide variety of architectural
styles, gives the city a more relaxed and southern
feel than other Ukrainian cities. The rest of
the day is free to explore at leisure.
|
| Day 5 |
CARPATHIAN MOUNTAINS
Full day excursion to the Bukovynian Carpathians
including the unique Museum of Ukrainian Embroidery
located in the village of Vashkivtsi. We also
include a visit to Nimchich Pass, which is excellent
for hiking and hill walking. Lunch can be provided
at a traditional Hutsul restaurant (paid locally).
|
| Day 6 |
KAMENTS PODILSKY TO TERNOPIL

TERNOPIL TO LVIV

village with a wonderful Baroque church. The Dominican
Monastery in Pidkamin was turned into an asylum
by the Soviets and has just recently been given
back to the church (though part of it still belongs
to the psychiatric hospital). Drive to Lviv and
transfer to Hotel Grand for overnight.
