On this exciting winter break, venture 230 miles north of the Arctic Circle to the remote Norwegian community of Alta, the City of the Northern Lights. Upon arrival into Alta you will be met at the airport and transferred to your hotel to check in for your 3 night stay. The remainder of the day is at leisure.
This morning help to get your own team of huskies harnessed to your sled before setting off on a thrilling dogsled adventure. Afterwards, enjoy a free afternoon to relax or explore Alta. In the evening, learn about the northern lights over a bowl of hot soup before getting bundled up and heading out for an exciting evening of aurora chasing. (B, D)
Today is another arctic adventure filled day. Start your day with a trip into the wilderness for a snowshoe hike to the frozen waters where drills will be used to make the ice fishing holes. Enjoy lunch in a traditional lavvo tent around an open fire before snowshoeing back. Tonight, meet a traditional Sami herder and his reindeer. Learn about the ways of the Sami people while enjoying a reindeer sled ride - a unique experience made all the more special as the northern lights dance in the sky above you! (B, L)
