Discover the indigenous wildlife of Borneo on this 13-day small-group tour of Sabah. From the bustling capital of Kota Kinabalu head deep into remote jungle landscapes in the Tabin Wildlife Reserve. Trek the trails searching for proboscis monkeys, pygmy elephants, wild orangutans and an abundance of birdlife. Journey to the Kinabatangan River and cruise the waterways to discover a landscape teeming with animal and birdlife. Visit Sepilok Rehabilitation Centre and watch juvenile orangutans learn the art of play and end your adventure with time to relax beachside on Gaya Island where there are opportunities to swim, snorkel, hike jungle trails or pamper yourself with lavish Spa treatments.
Land Kota Kinabalu and drive to the city centre Horizon Hotel. Enjoy two nights at leisure.

Return to the airport for the early morning flight to Lahad Datu. Land and transfer into Tabin Wildlife Reserve. This afternoon trek to the Lipad mud volcano which is a focal point for wildlife in the area including the macaques, red leaf monkeys and gibbons which can often to be heard calling through the early morning mist. Tabin Wildlife Reserve is also a release site for rehabilitated orangutans from Sepilok Rehabilitation Centre so there should be plenty of opportunities to see these endangered primates. After exploring the reserve further return to the lodge. After dinner enjoy a night safari in search of nocturnal wildlife. (B,L,D)
Head out on an early morning bird walk and discover some of the almost 300 bird species in the reserve. Return for breakfast before taking a trek through lush rainforest to the Lipad Waterfall. Cool off in the natural pool or explore the surrounding jungle landscape. Return to the lodge where there is the opportunity to try the Tabin Rainforest foot soak before an early evening dusk drive in search of wildlife heading out in search of food. After dinner end your stay with a night walk in search of further nocturnal wildlife before returning to the lodge for a good nights sleep. (B,L,D)
This morning depart early, return to Lahad Datu, change vehicles and drive onwards towards the Kinabatangan River. The river is home to an abundance of wildlife including pygmy elephants, proboscis monkeys, macaques and wild orangutans. Enjoy lunch and time at leisure. Late afternoon, enjoy a river cruise to search for the resident wildlife. (B,L,D)
Wake up to the jungle sounds and transfer downriver and through the Sulu Sea to Sandakan. Transfer to visit the Sepilok Rehabilitation Centre for the morning orangutan feeding. There should also be the opportunity to visit the orangutan nursery to watch the juveniles learning to play from their fellow orangutans. Continue to the Borneo Sun Bear Conservation Centre to learn a little about the centre's work to rescue and rehabilitate the smallest bears in the world, the sun bear. End the day in MY Nature Resort which sits on the edge of the Sepilok protected reserve and is home to a large colony of flying squirrels which can often be seen leaving to hunt at sunset. (B,L,D)
