This program utilises Norway's stunning rail network to provide the most scenic form of transportation, including a trip on the Rauma Railway, considered one of Noway's wildest and most stunning routes, as well as the famous Flåm Railway, which has been described as one of the most beautiful train journeys in the world!

Travel along the 11 hairpin turns of the Trollsteigen mountain pass and take in the Eagle Road Viewpoint on the way to the world's most beautiful fjord - the magnificent Geirangerfjord. This holiday is ideal for those looking for an in depth introduction to Norway's beautiful fjord without the use of a hire car.

DAY 1
FLY TO OSLO
Akershus Fortress, Oslo

Upon arrival into Oslo Airport take the express train into the city centre and make your way to the hotel for check in. The remainder of the day is free to explore Norway's capital.

DAY 2
FREE DAY IN OSLO
Vigeland Park, Oslo

Today is free to explore Oslo or to book an optional activity. Norway's capital is an energetic and modern hub which is easily explored by foot. Take a stroll through the city's harbour front and past the iconic Opera House or explore one of the many museums or art galleries on offer in the city. Vigeland Park, filled with over 200 sculptures, is also well worth a visit on a sunny day. (B)

DAY 3
RAUMA RAILWAY TO ÅNDALSNES
The Rauma River

This morning, travel along both the Dovre Railway and the scenic Rauma Railway to Åndalsnes. A trip on the Rauma Railway is a unique opportunity to experience some of the most spectacular scenery in Norway. Upon arrival into Åndalsnes make your own way to the hotel for a 1 night stay. (B)

DAY 4
TROLLSTIGEN & THE EAGLE ROAD
Trollstigen Mountain Pass

Board the bus to Geiranger and follow the incredible Golden Route - one of the most spectacular sightseeing routes in Norway.  The first highlight is the 11 dramatic hairpin bens of the Trollstigen mountain pass - a beautiful and adrenaline pumping road that climes at an incredibly steep incline into the mountains. The bus makes stops at the Trollstigen plateau as well as Ørnesvingen viewpoint for photo stops before descending into Geriranger. The afternoon is free for you to explore Geiranger or book an optional excursion. (B)

GEIRANGERFJORD
GEIRANGERFJORD

Today is free for you to explore the stunning, UNESCO listed Geirangerfjord at your leisure or to book an optional excursion of the area. Speak with your Regent Norway specialist about the different options available. (B)

DAY 6
GEIRANGER TO ÅLESUND
GEIRANGER TO ÅLESUND

Enjoy a free morning before boarding your fjord cruise to Ålesund. The fairy-tale like landscape of the Geirangerfjord has earn it the reputation of being the most beautiful fjord in the world and is understandably one of the most popular natural attractions in Norway. Your cruise will take you past the 3 most famous waterfalls in the fjord: the seven sisters, the suitor, and the bridal veil. (B)

DAY 7
ÅLESUND AT LEISURE
Ålesund

Today is free so to become immersed in Norway's prettiest town, where there is heaps of exciting activities to take part in here. The hiking in the area is also excellent - the view from the top of Sukkertoppen (The Sugar Top) is truly worth the hike up! Speak with your Norway Regent specialist about adding on an optional excursion in Ålesund.

 

Late this evening, board the Hurigruten ship for an overnight cruise to Bergen. (B)

DAY 8
ARRIVE BERGEN

Wake up on board and enjoy the rest of the cruise to Norway's second largest city. The rugged coastal areas are a striking contrast to the inner fjord regions. Fertile fruit orchards and glacial fingers stretch towards glistening lakes and gushing rapids. The captain will navigate past the mouth of the mighty Sognefjord, which offers superb views of this magnificent island-studded coastline. Arrive into Bergen in the afternoon and the remainder of the day is at leisure. (B)

DAY 9
HARDANGERFJORD
Norway's Hardangerfjord

Today, visit the second fjord of the trip - the magical, 179 km long Hardangerfjord. Travel to Norheimsund, passing the cascading Steinsdalsfossen waterfall on the way. From here, enjoy a boat trip to Eidfjord, take a sightseeing trip to Vøringsfossen waterfall (Norway’s biggest waterfall) and the Norwegian Nature Centre Hardanger, and see the delightful village of Ulvik. Return to Bergon with a ride on the beautiful Bergen Railway line. (B)

DAY 10
SOGNEFJORD & THE FLÅM RAILWAY
Naeroyfjord near Gudvangen

Leave Bergen behind and travel to 3rd and final fjord of the trip: the immense Sognefjord, the largest and deepest of all the fjords. Arrive by bus into the spectacularly scenic village of Gudvangen, nestled at the foot of the Nærøyfjord. Board the ferry cruise to Flåm through the deep calm waters of the UNESCO listed landscape. In Flåm, ride the famous Flåm Railway, one of the steepest train lines in the world, before continuing on to Oslo by train. (B)

FLY TO THE UK

Today is at leisure until it is time to take the express train back to Oslo Airport for the flight home. (B)
