Today is free for you to explore Oslo at your leisure or to book an optional activity. Norway's capital is an energetic and modern hub which is easily explored by foot. Take a stroll through the city's harbour front and past the iconic Opera House or explore one of the many museums or art galleries on offer in the city (the National Museum and the Viking Ship Museum are both excellent options). Vigeland Park, filled with over 200 sculptures, is also well worth a visit on a sunny day. (B)
This morning, take the train to Dombås on the Dovre Railway, where you'll change to the scenic Rauma Railway to Åndalsnes. A trip on the Rauma Railway is a unique opportunity to experience some of the most spectacular scenery in Norway. From your seat you can admire well-known attractions such as the Kylling bridge, Trollveggen cliff, the fantastic Rauma river and the Romsdalen valley. Upon arrival into Åndalsnes make your own way to your hotel for your 1 night stay. (B)
Board the bus to Geiranger and follow the incredible Golden Route - one of the most spectacular sightseeing routes in Norway, which will take you pass dramatic mountains, historic places, small lakes, creeks and waterfalls. The first highlight is driving the 11 dramatic hairpin bens of the Trollstigen mountain pass - a beautiful and adrenaline pumping road that climes at an incredibly steep incline into the mountains. The bus makes stops at the Trollstigen plateau as well as Ørnesvingen viewpoint for photo stops before descending into Geriranger. Enjoy a free morning before boarding your fjord cruise to Ålesund. The fairy-tale like landscape of the Geirangerfjord has earn it the reputation of being the most beautiful fjord in the world and is understandably one of the most popular natural attractions in Norway. The dramatic scenery is punctuated by the soaring, mountains that surround the fjord, their sheer cliffs plummeting almost vertically into its sapphire depths, accented by the abandoned farmsteads which cling precariously to the cliff-sides. Your cruise will take you past the 3 most famous waterfalls in the fjord: de Syv Søstre (the seven sisters) and Friaren (the suitor), and Brudesløret the bridal veil. (B)
Today is free so you can immerse yourself in Norway's prettiest town, where there is heaps of exciting activities to take part in, like deep sea fishing, kayaking trips or high-speed RIB safaris. The hiking in the area is also excellent - the view from the top of Sukkertoppen (The Sugar Top) is truly worth the hike up! Late this evening, board the Hurigruten ship for your overnight cruise to Bergen. (B)
Wake up on board and enjoy the rest of your cruise to Norway's second largest city. The rugged coastal areas are a striking contrast to the inner fjord regions. Fertile fruit orchards and glacial fingers stretch towards glistening lakes and gushing rapids. Your captain will navigate past the mouth of the mighty Sognefjord where you can enjoy superb views of this magnificent island-studded coastline. Upon arrival into Bergen in the afternoon the remainder of your day is at leisure. (B)
Today, visit your second fjord of your trip - the magical, 179 km long Hardangerfjord. Journey through a landscape of majestic mountains, roaring waterfalls and idyllic orchards. If the Sognefjord is the king of the fjords of Western Norway, the Hardangerfjord is surely the queen. Travel first from Bergen to Voss by train and continue by bus to the delightful little village of Ulvik. From Ulvik, the trip continues by boat to Eidfjord with a sightseeing trip to Vøringsfossen waterfall (Norway’s biggest waterfall) and the Norwegian Nature Centre Hardanger. The round trip continues with a beautiful boat trip to Norheimsund, where a bus will be waiting to take you back to Bergen. You will pass the cascading Steinsdalsfossen waterfall on the way. (B)
Leave Bergen by train to Voss, where you will take a coach to 3rd and final fjord of your trip: the immense Sognefjord, the largest and deepest of all the fjords. Your bus will drop you in the spectacularly scenic village of Gudvangen, nestled at the foot of the Nærøyfjord. Board the ferry cruise to Flåm through the deep calm waters of the UNESCO listed landscape - some of the most outstanding natural attractions in Norway. In Flåm, board the famous Flåm Railway, one of the steepest train lines in the world, before continuing on to Oslo by train. Upon arrival into Oslo please make your own way to your hotel. (B)
