Take a trip on the historic North Borneo Railway: board the British built steam train and journey through the lush Sabah countryside passing fertile paddy fields and traditional villages.
Jump into a 4WD vehicle and head to Kinabalu Park splashing through low-level rivers and tackling secondary gravel roads passing the roaring Kiulu River, sweeping vistas of the park and imposing Mt Kinabalu in the distance.
Visit the moving Kundasung War Memorial before taking a dip in the soothing Poring Hot Springs and head into the treetops to discover jungle life on the canopy walkway.
Cruise the wildlife-rich Kinabatangan River to discover an abundance of animal and bird life. Take sedate river cruises with an eagle-eyed river guide and encounter families of proboscis monkeys, graceful hornbills, herds of pygmy elephants and hopefully wild orangutans. Enjoy watching the orangutans enjoying a good meal at Sepilok Rehabilitation Centre before ending your Borneo adventure with a relaxing stay on picturesque Gaya Island.
Arrive in Kota Kinabalu and drive to the hotel. Enjoy the remainder of today at leisure.

This morning you will be collected by your 4WD vehicle and driven towards Kinabalu Park. The journey passes through low-level rivers, over rudimentary makeshift bridges and gravel roads passing through ever-changing scenery in vehicles used to the demanding landscape. Pass by the Kiulu River, past terraced paddy fields and enjoy a photo-stop offering fabulous Mt Kinabalu views. Continue onwards to the park for lunch before free time to explore the Botanical Garden and Park Exhibition Hall. Dinner and overnight in your park accommodation. (B,L,D)
Continue on your 4WD adventure to the Kundasung War Memorial established in 1962 to commemorate Australian and British POW's who perished in Sandakan during the infamous death marches to Ranau during World War II. Continue to the Poring Hot Springs for a dip in the soothing waters and the chance to also explore jungle trails and the treetop canopy walkway. Enjoy lunch before driving on to Sabah Tea Garden set in the sprawling organic tea plantation. Enjoy the afternoon at leisure. Dinner and overnight in Sabah Tea Garden. (B,L,D)
This morning enjoy a sunrise walk around the Sabah Tea Garden & Factory to learn about the process of tea making before returning to Kundasung for lunch. Drive back to Kota Kinabalu and onwards to the airport for the early evening flight to Sandakan. Land and transfer to your waterfront hotel. (B,L)

This morning drive from Sandakan to Sepilok Rehabilitation Centre. Enjoy a brief yet informative video presentation before strolling along the boardwalk to the orangutan feeding platform. Orangutans often come down to the platform for a morning feed before disappearing back into the treetops. There may also be the chance to visit the orangutan nursery before also visiting the nearby Borneo Sun Bear Conservation Centre. Enjoy lunch before boarding a boat for a transfer with a difference: journey up the Lower Kinabatangan River delta keeping an eye out for the wildlife along the way. Arrive at Abai Jungle Lodge and check-in. Late afternoon head out on a wildlife river cruise in search of the resident wildlife including probosics monkeys, birdlife such as the hornbill, pygmy elephants and wild orangutan. After dinner go on a night safari to search for nocturnal creatures. Overnight in the lodge. (B,L,D)
Abai Jungle Lodge
Early morning enjoy a wildlife river cruise to further search for the wildlife in the cool of the early morning. Return to the lodge and take part in the village tree planting programme. Enjoy lunch and free time before a further late afternoon river cruise. Overnight at the lodge. (B,L,D)
This morning return downriver and drive to Sepilok for the night. Enjoy the afternoon and evening at leisure, why not head back to Sepilok for the 3pm orangutan feeding or visit the nearby Rainforest Discovery Centre. (B,L,D)
MY Nature Resort
This morning transfer to Sandakan airport for the short flight back to Kota Kinabalu. Upon arrival you will be transferred to the jetty for the crossing to Gayana Eco Resort. The remainder of the day is at leisure. (B)
Gayana Marine Resort
Day at leisure to relax. Why not visit the Marine Ecology Research Centre (MERC) which is doing important work trying to repropogate the giant clam species. (B)
Day at leisure. The resort has an on-site PADI diver centre and sea kayaks. (B)
