Istanbul is the fabled city that spans Asia and Europe, full of must-see historic sites. One of the most famous in both the Turkish and Islamic worlds is the Sultan Ahmet Mosque, or the ‘Blue Mosque’ – a superb creation in the classical Ottoman style. It features six towering minarets, as well as 260 windows that illuminate its vast main chamber, which is decorated with more than 20,000 Iznik tiles. Admire the great architectural beauty of the Hagia Sophia museum – an important monument both for Byzantine and for Ottoman Empires – before finishing at the region's crown jewel: Topkapi Palace. Enjoy incredible views as the train climbs over the Shipka Pass and into the first stop, Veliko Tarnovo – Bulgaria’s ancient capital. Nestled in a magnificent mountain setting, the stone houses seem perched one above the other on the steep banks of the Yantra River. A tour includes the superbly preserved medieval Tsarevets Hill and Castle, with free time to wander through the narrow alleyways of the ancient city. In the evening, relax in the Bar Lounge Car over a few pre-dinner drinks as the train continues through the scenic landscape across the Romanian border. (B,L,D)
Overnight, the train climbs over the Carpathian Mountains and threads its way through the dramatic mountainous landscape, before arriving Sinaia. This morning, take a tour of Peles Castle – a masterpiece of German new-Renaissance architecture and considered by many to be one of the most stunning castles in Europe.
After lunch on board, continue onto Brasov for a visit to Bran Castle, which owes its fame to the myth created around Bram Stocker's Dracula. Following a tour of the castle and its surroundings, enjoy a gala dinner inside the castle walls. (B,L,D)

The Petro Palace Hotel seemed to be an addition to your hotel choices but is well worthy of retention and continued use giving high the standard of facilities, excellent staff and central location.
The guides, drivers and vehicles were all first class. We have already recommended your website to a number of colleagues and friends. Thank you.
We got excellent service from Andrei. Please thank him on our behalf.
Thanks to Peter Wybrow for his patience in going over the obvious. We had a great time and saw everything we wanted to. The guide spoke good English. She was very capable of describing and explaining what life is like in Russia today. All we have to do now is sort out 600+ photographs.
