Sitting directly on the Arctic Circle, Rovaniemi is the capital of Lapland where every one of the 200 days of winter feels as festive as the last. Spend five days discovering Finnish Lapland, with three nights in a Lakituvat Log Cabin and one night at the Arctic Snow Village to spend a night under the stars in a cosy glass igloo.
Speak to a Regent Specialist about booking additional excursions to experiencing the very best of this winter wonderland. Perhaps opt for an aurora photography workshop, try your hand at mushing a husky sled or dash across frozen lakes on a snowmobile.
Fly to Lapland’s capital and transfer to your chalet for a three-night stay.
Perhaps book a snowshoe excursion to giscover the surrounding Lappish forest, stoping to enjoy lunch cooked on an open fire. In the evening, we recommend choosing to include night-time photography workshop with an experienced photographer in your stay, and head outside to search for the magical aurora borealis.
After breakfast, enjoy a day at leisure.
We suggest booking a husky safari excursion to fill the day. This additional trip includes a transfer to a local husky farm, where you'll try your hand as a musher. Guides will provide a lesson in driving a dog-sled team before you take the reins. You will be provided with specialist winter clothing to keep you warm as you dash through the snowy wilderness pulled by your team of huskies. Stop for lunch, before returning to your chalet in the afternoon. (B)
Today, perhaps choose to travel through the Lappish countryside, crossing crisp white snow and over ice-covered lakes, on an exhilarating snowmobile safari to a local reindeer farm, where you can stop for lunch. (B)
After breakfast, transfer 26 kilometres from Rovaniemi to the Arctic SnowHotel and check in to a cosy glass igloo for an overnight stay. These cosy pods have electrically-heated glass ceilings and their own private showers and toilets. If you request the hotel’s aurora alarm service you can drift off to sleep safe in the knowledge that you will be woken if the northern lights appear overhead.
Enjoy an afternoon at leisure enjoying the beautiful Lappish surroundings. Optional excursions can be pre-booked. A Regent favourite here is the sauna experience, which includes time in the hotel’s outdoor Jacuzzi and snow sauna. This evening, you will enjoy a three-course farewell dinner in the Ice Restaurant. Here, benches made of ice are covered in reindeer hide and food is served on ice tables. On your final evening in Lapland, be sure to chill out in the Ice Bar with a drink in a glass made of ice and head outside to keep a look out for the northern lights swirling overhead. (B)
Speak to a Regent Specialist about swapping your glass igloo for a night in the SnowHotel. Newly built from snow and ice every winter, each room is carved with a unique design and every ice bed is covered with fur throws and warm, fleece-lined sleeping bags.
After breakfast, transfer to the airport for the flight back to the UK.(B)
* Please note the glass igloo will be twin-share. If you would like your own, a supplement of £395 applies
