Set off on this 4-night wondrous winter fly-drive to discover South Iceland's untamed natural wonders. Staying at the stunning 4-star Hotel ION Hotel - the perfect place to head back to after a long day enjoying the fresh Icelandic air. Set in rugged mountainside of Mount Hengill, the hotel is built with sustainability and beauty in mind, from the reuse of local natural resources such as lava and driftwood to the geothermic waters that run through the hotel's water system.

Slightly more than an hour's drive from Keflavik airport, the hotel's Deluxe rooms with their floor-to-ceiling windows are the perfect place to catch a performance of the winter light show. The hotel is an ideal location for exploring the iconic wonders of the Golden Circle and seeing Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss waterfalls.

DAY 1
FLY TO REYKJAVIK
Northern Lights over Reykjavík - Iceland

Arrive at Keflavik International airport. Pick up your car, take the scenic drive to the Hotel ION and check in for four nights. Depending on your flight schedule, opt for a detour to the world’s northernmost capital, Reykjavík, which offers a thriving cultural scene with an abundance of first-class restaurants, stylish galleries and historic landmarks.

DAY 2
GOLDEN CIRCLE
Gullfoss waterfall in Winter - Iceland

Spend the day discovering the stunning natural beauty of the Golden Circle. Visit the geysir geothermal fields, where lively 'Strokkur' spouts water 100 feet into the air. Feel the power of Gullfoss waterfall before reaching the UNESCO World Heritage Site Þingvellir National Park, where the ancient parliament met for centuries on the shores of Iceland’s largest natural lake, Þingvallavatn. This location is also where the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates meet, the only place you can see this above sea level in the world. After dark, search for the ethereal aurora away from any light pollution in the peaceful rural setting of your hotel. (B)

DAY 3
THE SOUTH COAST
Seljalandsfoss waterfall in Winter - Iceland

Today discover the main highlights of Iceland's South coast. Start the day with a visit to the Lava Centre - an interactive, high-tech educational exhibition depicting volcanic activity and earthquakes - to learn more about the 'land of fire and ice' and its incredible volcanic landscape. Continue to the narrow Seljalandsfoss waterfall and the impressive Skógafoss waterfalls. Finally, reach the black sands of Reynisfjara beach and be amazed by the mighty waves and towering basalt column features carved by the powerful ocean. (B)

DAY 4
SKAFTAFELL NATIONAL PARK
Jökulsárlón glacial lagoon - Iceland

The morning is yours to explore the wonders of Skaftafell National Park. Here black sand dunes roll up towards volcanic peaks, creating vistas that can take your breath away. You may spot various species of birds, as this is a particular hotspot for them, along with elusive Arctic foxes if you’re very lucky. After Skaftafell, move on to Jökulsárlón glacial lagoon. This stunning lagoon can be explored with a Zodiac boat tour, or by kayak or amphibian boat. If you prefer, simply take a stroll along one of the black-sand beaches, threading your way between the stranded icebergs. (B)

DAY 5
FLY TO THE UK
Blue lagoon in Winter - Iceland

This morning, check out of your hotel and head for the Blue Lagoon*. Here you can plunge into the warm, healing waters of this incredible geothermal pool. Speak to a Regent specialist about upgrading your package to enjoy spa treatments, meals in the restaurant or even an in-water massage. Once you’re fully relaxed, hop back in the car and drive on to Keflavík airport, where you will return your car and board your flight back to the UK. (B)
