Before the arctic winter covers the Lappish countryside with a thick blanket of snow and ice – head out to Lapland to see the northern lights dance across autumnal landscapes whilst staying in a cosy log cabin with your own private sauna and spending one night in the glamping domes.
Fly to Kittila via Helsinki and check in to your log cabin for 2 nights. (D)
This morning after a hearty Lappish breakfast, and then head out into the autumnal wilderness for hikes or fat bike riding (€35 per bike per day). In the evening uncover the secrets of the Northern Lights and head out to a nearby campfire. Whilst cooking pancakes over the open fire - keep an eye out for the lights dancing overhead. (B,D)
After breakfast, perhaps book optional excursions such as Lappish Foodie Experience and head back out to the wilderness to search for local ingredients to make a tasty lunch over a campfire. In the afternoon perhaps heat up your private sauna and don't forget to cool off in the lake if you want that truly authentic Finnish experience. This evening you can choose to go out aurora hunting by car or by horse, before sleeping an overnight in the Aurora Dome. The see through side wall of the dome is directed towards the northern sky with a view over the Lake Torassieppi and the scenery to the untouched Lappish wilderness is breathtaking even on cloudy nights. (B,D)
After breakfast, perhaps just enjoy one last sauna experience before the transfer to the airport for your flight back to the UK. (B)
The order of the excursions may change locally and sometimes it may be necessary to stop over in Helsinki on the way out.
