This 4-day winter group tour is perfect for the busy traveller keen to explore the staggering natural landscapes and fascinating geological wonders that are on offer in Iceland with an action-packed few days.

After arriving in Reykjavik, Iceland’s quirky and charming capital, this tour sets out to discover the thundering waterfalls and explosive geysers of the classic Golden Circle; a must-do for all visitors to Iceland. A trip to the healing geothermal waters of the Blue Lagoon takes care of weary muscles while an evening in the rural countryside ensure the best opportunities possible for catching a glimpse of the elusive northern lights.

Though glaciers are a common sight in Iceland, this tour gets up close and personal with the immense Langjokull Glacier in a unique way: step inside the glacier itself and explore the large man-made ice cave to learn more about the glacier’s natural formation and recent history. A night is spent out of Reykjavik to experience Iceland a little further from the crowds, giving the group the chance to see lesser-visited waterfalls and relax in the newly opened Geothermal nature bath at Krauma.

Tour Itinerary

Fly to Iceland, transfer to Reykjavik city centre and check-in at Centerhotel Midgardur for an overnight stay. Explore the capital city at your leisure in the evening. Speak to a Regent Holidays Iceland Travel Specialist for any restaurant recommendations.
Set out to discover the main sights of Iceland’s Golden Circle, a trio of world-famous geological wonders. Travel to Thingvellir National Park, an area of outstanding natural beauty and geological and historical significance, where the Eurasian and North American tectonic plates pull apart to leave a striking and visible rift in the landscape.
Stand on the cliffs overlooking the incredible Gullfoss waterfall, where the force of the water thundering over the falls pushes great white clouds of mist high into the air. Wander around the hot springs and bubbling mud pools at the Geysir geothermal fields, where the impressive Strokkur Geyser erupts every 5-10 minutes.
In the afternoon, the tour continues to Borgarfjordur where the group checks in for a night at the luxurious and remote Hotel Husafell. Once darkness falls, this rural hotel provides a fantastic location from which to watch for the elusive northern lights from the comfort of your hotel. (B)
In the morning, set off on an exhilarating glacier experience at Langjökull glacier. An eight-wheel monster truck picks you up directly from the hotel and spends the morning driving up on Langjökull glacier, before you step out to explore the man-made Ice Cave that burrows deep inside it. Walk deep within the ice cap with your guide and delve into a remote new world made of stunning blue ice to learn about the formation of Iceland’s glaciers and how the recent history of the country has painted natural stripes through the ice.
After an optional lunch, head back to Reykjavik and stop to visit the beautiful Hraunfossar waterfalls and Deildartunguhver hot spring, one of Europe most powerful hot spring providing 180l/secs of 98°C hot water. Relax at the new Geothermal nature bath Krauma - conveniently located next to Deildartunguhver hot spring - and enjoy some time to relax, soaking in the outdoor hot tubs, enjoying the saunas and trying out the unique tranquillity room. In the evening, return to Reykjavik and check-in at Centerhotel Midgardur for an overnight stay. (B)
Transfer to the airport for the flight back to the UK. (B)
