This morning visit the Kremlin grounds and take a peep into one of the many cathedrals on its territory. The name "Kremlin" was given to a fortified complex found in various historic Russian cities. There are numerous kremlins in Russia that managed to survive up to this day: the Novgorod Kremlin, the Kazan Kremlin, the Pskov Kremlin, the Kolomna Kremlin. But only one Kremlin speaks for itself — the world-famous Moscow Kremlin in the heart of Moscow. It is a major tourist attraction and home to the president's residence. Transfer to the railway station for Train to Irkutsk departing mid-afternoon. (B)

Arrive in Irkutsk late  morning. Enjoy a sightseeing tour of Irkutsk before travelling to Listvyanka with a stop for lunch and an en route visit to the Ethnographic Museum founded in 1969. About twenty three kilometres outside Listvyanka is located Taltsy Museum of Architecture & Ethnography. an impressive outdoor collection of old Siberian buildings set in a pleasant riverside forest. Amid the renovated farmsteads are two chapels, a church, a watermill, some Evenki graves and the eye-catching 17th-century Iliminsk Ostrog watchtower. Check in the Legend of Baikal Hotel for overnight stay. (L,D) 

DAY 8
LAKE BAIKAL TO IRKUTSK

After breakfast enjoy a walking tour of Listvyanka. The small village of Listvyanka, located on the shores of the spectacular Lake Baikal is a popular stop amongst Trans-Siberian Railway travellers looking to savour their time at the lake and learn a bit more about this natural wonder. The Baikal Limnological Institute houses the headquarters for lake research by the Russian Academy of Sciences and contains some fascinating samples of the unique marine life found here, while the solar observatory perched high on the hills above the village charts the sun’s activity and provides breath-taking views of the lake and possibly a glimpse of the elusive Baikal seal— the world’s only fresh water pinniped. Overnight in hotel in Irkutsk. (B)

Transfer to railway station for early morning train to Ulaanbaatar, follow Lake Baikal for a few hours before travelling south to the Russian border into Mongolia. (B)

Arrive Ulaanbaatar early in the morning and have breakfast before travelling to Terelj National Park. Conveniently located an hours drive away from Ulaanbaatar, Terelj National Park is famous for its beautiful natural scenery, meadows of wild flowers, pine-covered mountains and interesting rock formations like Turtle Rock. Overnight in a yurta (nomad’s conical hut). (B,L,D)
DAY 11
ULAANBAATAR
ULAANBAATAR

Transfer back to Ulaanbaatar for city tour including Gandan Monastery, Museum of Natural History, Bogd Khan Winter Palace, Zaisan Hill and Sukhbaatar Square. Check in to the hotel for 2 nights. (B,L)

Free day to explore Ulaanbaatar further. (B)
