Travel north of the Arctic Circle to stand on the cliff edge at the northernmost tip of Europe. By day, discover Norway’s landscapes as you voyage through deep Arctic fjords, pass towering mountainous peaks and race through snowy landscapes on husky, snowmobile and reindeer safaris. By night, set off into the remote countryside in search of the elusive northern lights and opt to overnight in a snow hotel.
Arrive in Ivalo, Finland, and transfer to Saariselka. Spend a day at leisure before meeting your group and tour leader in the evening.
Spend a day at leisure or speak to a Regent Arctic Travel Specialist about booking optional activities. From reindeer, husky and snowmobile safaris to ice-fishing on frozen lakes, there’s plenty to entertain. This evening, embark on a northern lights hunt by sleigh. (B)
After breakfast, travel to Inari and visit the Siida Sami Museum to begin a day learning about traditional Lappish Sami culture. Continue north west before crossing the border into Norway to arrive at Karasjok, the Sami capital and home of the Sami parliament, Samediggi. (B,D)
This morning head north and travel through the North Cape tunnel to reach Mageroya Island and the North Cape itself. Here you’ll find the iconic globe sculpture and you can stand with your feet on the very edge of Northern Europe. (B,D)
Head south through the staggering 123-kilometre long Porsanger Fjord, and on to Alta. Visit the Alta Museum to learn all about this mysterious phenomenon before enjoying a free afternoon to explore the town or book an excursion. This evening, we suggest upgrading your hotel room to a night at the Sorrisniva Igloo hotel, Norway’s largest and the world’s northernmost ice hotel. (B)
Head through scenic Arctic Fjords before arriving in , the former starting point for many North Pole expeditions. Enjoy free time to explore the ‘Paris of the north’ – perhaps climb aboard the Fjellheisen aerial tramway to ascend to a mountain-top viewpoint overlooking the city. In the evening, embark on a northern lights safari to search for the aurora borealis, which includes a light evening meal. (B,D)
Enjoy a day at leisure. From it is easily possible to admire the snow covered scenery whilst being pulled by a herd of reindeer, set sail on a whale watching cruise on the open sea, or even try your hand at snowmobiling or cross country skiing. (B)
