A small selection of North Korean novels can be purchased in Pyongyang in English. One of the most famous titles, “Sea Of Blood” is a great adventure/war novel, and will certainly help give an understanding of the mindset of the Korean people and their thoughts of the years of Japanese occupation.

About North Korea

Twenty-five years after Regent's first group entered North Korea, visitors to this perplexing country still find it as fascinating. As the leading UK experts on North Korea we work closely with the authorities to develop programmes which push the boundaries for tourism here.

Part of the fun of a visit to North Korea is to expect the unexpected, so go with the flow and you will be rewarded with an intriguing tour. Appreciate Pyongyang's massive main square, where military parades are held, visit the captured US spy boat, USS Pueblo, tour the sets of the film studio and ride the impressive chandelier-lit metro. Pay your respects to the 20m-tall statue of Kim Il Sung, visit his former home and mausoleum at the Kumsusan Memorial Palace and meander through the endless corridors of the International Friendship Exhibition which houses the gifts given to him and his son, Kim Jong Il.

A highlight is Panmunjom in the DMZ where you gaze across the border at the stony-faced South Korean guards and may even enter one of the huts that straddles the border. Learn about life on a co-operative farm and make sure you buy some propaganda as a memento of your visit.

Why book with Regent Holidays...?

Our knowledge of this destination is the best in the UK, with regular staff visits and escorted tours throughout the country. Should you have any questions regarding any aspects of your planned visit to North Korea, or regarding the services we can offer please do not hesitate to contact us.

About Our Tours...

Our tours to North Korea include all meals, transport and accommodation within the country, and visitors can generally choose at the end of their tour whether they wish to return to Beijing by air or train (a supplement is payable to depart by air). In addition, we include the North Korean Visa fee*, and for those living in the UK/EU we include registered/secure dispatch of your passports back to you.

We can also arrange hotels and transfers for our clients in Beijing, book extended itineraries in China, and also arrange travel to South Korea and elsewhere in Asia at the beginning or end of our tours. As an ATOL holder we can also book your international air tickets from the UK to China, and onward air, train and ferry tickets to other destinations in Asia and beyond at highly competitive rates with numerous airlines. It is also possible to depart Korea on the train to Moscow, an unusual alternative to the Trans-Siberian train route!

Unlike the few other companies arranging tours to North Korea, our group tours are always of a limited size, and in 2010 our Classic tours will have no more than twelve persons in each group, and are guaranteed to operate with a minimum of two persons.
