The Golden Ring of Russia is a collection of cities and towns, roughly constituting a ring around Moscow, which are known for their architectural beauty and charm. This tour is a guaranteed departure tour operated in conjunction with our Russian partners and is not exclusive to Regent Holidays. This tour departs Moscow every other Saturday from 6th January 2007 onward.

WHAT IS THE GOLDEN RING?
'The Golden Ring' refers to the towns and cities that make up one of Russia's oldest routes located north-east of Moscow. If you were to visit these towns starting from Moscow, you would travel in a circle (hence a ring) ending up back in Moscow. The ‘Golden’ part comes from the fact that these towns and cities represent over 1,000 years of rich Russian history written in stone and wood, from an 850-year old church in Rostov to a 19th-century log house in Suzdal's open-air museum.

Each of these ‘Golden’ towns once played an important role in the history of Russia and was connected in one way or another with famous historical figures such as Alexander Nevsky, Ivan the Terrible, Peter the Great and many others. The classic route starts from Moscow and goes anti-clockwise through Vladimir, Suzdal, Kostroma, Yaroslavl, Rostov Velikiy, Pereslavl-Zalesskiy and Sergiev Posad.

Itinerary
Day 1	Arrive Moscow and transfer to hotel for overnight. Dinner at 19.00
Day 2	Moscow. 10.00 City tour including Kremlin Grounds and one cathedral. Overnight hotel
Day 3	After breakfast depart for Vladimir by car or coach. City tour of Vladimir on arrival and visit to Bogoliuvovo. Dinner and overnight In Vladimir
Day 4	Tour of nearby Suzdal. Departure for Yaroslavl [249 km]. Dinner and overnight in Yaroslavl
Day 5	After breakfast city tour of Yaroslavl with Spassky Monastery. Afternoon visit to new museum. Dinner and overnight in Yaroslavl
Day 6	After breakfast departure from Rostov Veliky. Tour of Rostov and continue to Sergei Posad for visit to Trinity Sergius Lavra. Dinner in Moscow then transfer to rail station for overnight train to St. Petersburg
Day 7	Early morning arrival in St. Petersburg and transfer to hotel for breakfast. 10.00 city sightseeing tour. Afternoon visit to Hermitage. Dinner and overnight in St. Petersburg
Day 8	Excursion to Pavlovsk. Dinner and overnight in St. Petersburg
Day 9	St Petersburg. Breakfast at hotel. Transfer to airport for return flight.
