Slovakia Luxury Chateau Tour

Holidays in Slovakia

Visit in Slovakia in style with this unique offer at the elegant The Château from £690 per person.

Built in Baroque style by Hungarian nobleman Baron Šalgo in 1767, Château Šalgovce has been lovingly restored and transformed into luxurious accommodation. The Château, surrounded by rolling countryside, vineyards and picturesque hills, is located just 7 miles from the world-famous spa town of Pieštany, and less than an hour from Slovakia's beautiful capital, Bratislava.

The Château, with French and Habsburg period furniture, Venetian crystal chandeliers, antique mirrors and decorated with silks from the East, provides elegant and refined surroundings.

The Château's guest suites and bedrooms offer exquisite accommodation for the discerning guests, with French sleigh beds, coronets and silk canopies, chaise lounges and writing bureaux, Baroque plasterwork, crystal chandeliers and lamps, slipper baths and even a room with its own private sauna. All rooms come complete with broadband access, LCD television and DVD player. Many of The Château's rooms have beautiful original vaulted ceilings.

The historic chapel, with its domed ceiling adorned with frescos dating from the 18th century, is the beautiful and unique setting for The Château's Altar restaurant. The Altar Restaurant offers a fusion of the best of French and Slovak cuisine, and of course wines.

The beauty salon, which also has a beautiful vaulted ceiling, offers a range of indulgent treatments from the Dead Sea, as well as The Château's unique revitalising Vino Vie™ therapies, using grapes from The Château's own vineyard, locally found volcanic mud and mineral waters from the Château's well, together with other special ingredients.

The Château's terraces, landscaped in Baroque style, and natural spring water swimming pond, offer stunning views of Šalgovce's picturesque hills, and The Château's vineyard.

Itinerary
Day 1
Depart UK and upon arrival at Bratislava, transfer to The Château at Šalgovce, where you can relax in sumptuous surrounding before enjoying a traditional Slovak feast.
Day 2

After breakfast you depart to the beautiful village of Vlkolinec, which remains untouched by the 19th and 20th centuries. Stroll amongst the beautiful log houses and visit the fascinating museum, located in one of the village houses.

In the afternoon you move on to Banska Štiavnica, a magnificently preserved former gold and silver mining town once the third largest town in the Austro-Hungarian kingdom. The town is crammed with beautiful monuments and buildings. After enjoying the streets and monuments of Banska Štiavnica, you return to The Château for dinner.

Day 3 Cachtice and Beckov Castles
In the morning you visit the strange and eerie castle of Cachtice, former residence of Elizabeth Bathory, the Blood Countess and the inspiration of the vampire myth. In the afternoon you visit Beckov castle, dramatically perched on a sheer rock-face above the small town of Beckov. Afterwards, you visit a Koliba in Hlohovec for a night of traditional Slovak music, dance, food and of course delicious Slovak wine!
Day 4

Bardejov and Spis Castle
This morning you will visit the beautifully preserved Gothic town of Bardejov. As well as its Gothic fortifications, the town has many wonderful Renaissance buildings. The museums of Bardejov are an absolute treat, and provide a wealth of information on Slovakia and the Carpathian region.

After Bardejov, you drive to Spis castle, the largest medieval castle in Europe. Part of the historic settlement is Spisska Kapitula, originally founded as a religious community, as well as the village of Zehra, home to the Gothic Church of the Holy Spirit. You then return to The Château for dinner.

Day 5 Depending on the time of your flight back to the UK, you may have time to enjoy a regenerating treatment at Pieštany spa before your journey home. Transfer to Bratislava airport.
