Tehran, literally meaning the ‘End of the Road,’ is no longer the outpost that its name implies. Whilst not the cultural centre of the nation, it is without a doubt the vibrant heart, when it comes to social change.

Unlike in rural Iran, Tehranis are increasingly pushing the boundaries of acceptable fashion and behaviour - t-shirts and jeans are de rigueur for the boys and for the girls headscarves are slipping back and manteaus are rising up - along with the eyebrows of the disregarded mullahs who overlook all of this with disapproval. Amongst this dynamic atmosphere the city boasts breathtaking palaces and museums, endless bazaars, fine food and a constant bustle - making Tehran a fascinating and alternative city break destination.
