Tour Itinerary
This morning return to the airport and take the short flight across to Sandakan. Land and take a boat cruise to the Lower Kinabatangan River Sanctuary - there are plenty of opportunities to spot the resident wildlife so keep an eye out! Transfer further upriver to Sukau and the Kinabatangan Riverside Lodge. Late afternoon enjoy a wildlife river cruise to search for the resident riverside residents. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight (two rooms). (B,L,D)
Early morning, enjoy a river cruise for birdwatching at the Pitas Lake. Return to the lodge for breakfast and enjoy time at leisure. Late morning there is the option to join a short village tour with a simple lunch with some of the Abai villagers. Return to the lodge, the rest of the afternoon is at leisure until a final late afternoon river cruise. (B,L,D)
This morning transfer through the mangrove forest and the Sulu Sea to Sandakan. Arrive and drive to Sepilok and MY Nature Resort. The afternoon is free to visit the nearby Rainforest Discovery Centre. (B/L/D)
Drive to the Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre to observe the orangutan feeding and hopefully see the juveniles in the nursery. From here continue to the Borneo Sun Bear Centre, a centre dedicated to the rescue and rehabilitation of sun bears previously illegally kept as pets. The afternoon is free at leisure. (B/L/D)
