Today use your 1-day Taipei double-decker bus ticket to explore bustling Taipei. The newest addition to Taipei City's efficient transportation system, the double decker 'Hop-On, Hop-Off' bus gives visitors a hassle-free way to tour the city by usage of a day pass for both the Red and Blue lines. This morning you will be collected by an English-speaking guide for the drive to Taroko Gorge. This journey will take you along the elevated scenic Suhua Highway which offers fabulous views of the coast. A stop will be taken en-route at the towering Quingshui Cliffs. Arrive Taroko National Park and visit the splendid Taroko Gorge plus the Eternal Spring Shrine and Swallow Grotto. (B)

This morning depart the hotel and embark on a journey along the island’s Central Cross Island Highway, a scenic mountain road passing rugged scenery. Enjoy panoramic views over the Central Mountain Range. Continue the drive to Sun Moon Lake, with the road taking you along the lakeside. Stop for a visit to Wen Wu Temple before spending the night at Sun Moon Lake. (B)

After breakfast visit the Holy Monk Shrine, Ita Thao and the Tse En Pagoda. Continue on the drive to the ancient capital of Tainan, the oldest city in Taiwan. Discover Anping Fort and the ancient city streets on a walking tour before spending the night in the city. (B)

This morning will be spent exploring Chihkan Tower which dates back to 1653 when the Dutch laid the original foundations. Continue to the Confucius Temple, the first of its kind in Taiwan, and stroll around this tranquil area before continuing the journey onwards to Kaohsiung. Stop to visit the biggest monastery in Taiwan, the Foguanshan Monastery: visit the main shrine and the Buddhist Museum and enjoy a light vegetarian lunch. End the day in Kaohsiung City, the largest city in southern Taiwan. The evening is free at leisure to maybe take a stroll or head to the bustling Liuho Night Market. (B/L)

Spend the morning visiting the Dragon and Tiger Pagodas as well as the Spring and Autumn Pavilion. Enjoy some free time before driving north to Lukang to visit Lungshan Temple before returning to Taipei. Enjoy this evening free at leisure to enjoy the nightlife of Taipei. There are many night markets to explore along with bars, micro-breweries and of course the ubiquitous karaoke bars! (B)
