Baroque enthusiasts will never have enough time to see everything, so a repeat visit is almost inevitable. Every city tour should include the Cathedral, Peter and Paul Church and the Gates of Dawn.

Try also to include the Applied Arts Museum, which displays several centuries of Lithuanian religious craftsmanship in wood, metal and fabrics, much of which was previously hidden. At night, discover Vilnius's lively side - a host of friendly bars, restaurants and cafés offer a wide range of delicious food and drink. Many of the best eateries and watering holes are tucked away in the alleys of the Old Town.
Regent recommends...an excursion to Grutas Park, near the Lithuanian spa resort - Druskininkai, where statues of Lenin, Stalin and Dzerzhinsky form an exposition of over 50 ideological sculptures that once stood proudly in town hall squares.

This is a small three-star hotel located near the Gates of Dawn.

The hotel has 23 modern, light rooms, which have air-conditioning, TV, telephone, mini-bar and internet connection. The hotel also has a restaurant.

Hotel Rinno

A good standard three-star hotel located just outside the Old Town - there are 15 modern rooms with large bathrooms.

Some rooms have a good view of the Old Town. There is a good buffet breakfast including made to order pancakes.

Hotel Barbacan Palace

A three-star plus hotel located in the Old Town, not far from St Anne's Church.

There are 33 modern, spacious rooms with air-conditioning, satellite TV and mini-bar. Facilities include a breakfast room, fitness centre and sauna (extra charge payable).
