Suggested Itinerary
|
| Day 1 |
Depart London Heathrow on BMI flight
to Baku. Arrival transfer
from airport to hotel.Check in Hotel Absheron for
3 nights (standard rooms 11th floor) |
| Day 2 |
Baku. Baku city tour
including an afternoon visit to the Absheron peninsula
Including in tour visit to Memory Alley, Shehidler
Khiyabany, and panoramic view of Baku city from
the park. Boat trip on Caspian Sea around the Baku
bay. Visit to the State Carpets museum. Lunch at
a local restaurant before afternoon excursion to
the Absheron Peninsula. Here you will visit some
natural gas outlets called Yanar Dag (Burning Moutain)
and the Fire Worshipper's Temple Ateshgah. Dinner
in Baku |
| Day 3 |
Day trip to Guba
town. (95 miles north of Baku) A pleasant town on
the slopes of the Shahdag Mountain Range (2000 feet
above sea level) A 16th century fortress dominates
Guba but another great site is the hundreds of apple
orchards (which should be in blossom in early May!)
En route stop near sanctuary Pir Khydyr Zinde. Visit
mosque of Sakina-Khanum, Ardabil mosque, Dome-shaped
Baths in Guba. Continue to canyon of Tengy on the
river of Valvalachay. Lunch at local restaurant.
Walk to Afuja waterfall before transferring back
to Baku. Dinner in Baku |
| Day 4 |
Early Check-out of hotel and travel to Shamakha.
(80 miles west of Baku) On the way visit to "Diri
Baba" mausoleum in Maraza village, historical
mosque Djuma (with minarets, dating back to the
10th century and mausoleum of Seven Domes, Yeddi
Gumbez (burial place for members of the royal
families of Shirvan) in Shamakha town. Lunch at
a local restaurant.
Continue on to Sheki
via Muganly Pass. (235 miles northwest of Baku).
En route visit Basqal village to drink local mineral
medicinal water Bado, if time you will also visit
en Dam village in Gabala region, where remain
the ruins of the capital of ancient Caucasian
Albania. On arrival in Sheki check in at Yukhari
Caravansaray (two-star), this hotel used to be
medieval caravansaray before being upgraded into
a basic hotel! Depending on time of arrival you
can visit the local medieval fortress, Sheki Khans'
palace (currently is under restoration, observation
from the outside), local museum of history, local
handicrafts workshop, panoramic view of the town,
mosque-madrassah.

| Day 5 |
Check-out and continuation of Sheki sightseeing
tour. Trip to village Kishnear Shekitown (20 minutes
by car) Visit the first church in Caucasus from
the 1st century. Visit to Bakuvia Agdash, GyoyChay,
Agsu, Shamakha. Lunch at a local restaurant. En
route back to Baku visit to a pomegranate place.
Arrive in Baku and
check-in. Dinner in Baku

Free day in Baku.

Transfer to airport for flight back to the UK
