For forty-five years
the Baltic States of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania
remained hidden from the world as unwilling republics
of the Soviet Union. Since their dramatic and successful
bid for independence during the late 1980's, each
country has rediscovered its former culture, history
and language.
Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania
are now totally open to visitors. It is possible to
combine the three capital cities, each one an architectural
spendour in its own right, with visits to coastal
villages and many smaller towns.
