Belgrade City Breaks
Belgrade is a city on the up and you will enjoy the warmth of its welcome, helped along by a glass or two of rakija. Visit impressive hilltop Kalemagdan Fortress and then relax with a coffee and cake in the surrounding park as you watch the locals enjoying the early evening sun. Make the most of a stroll around the compact Old Town where cars are banned from many streets or while away the hours at Ada Ciganlija on the beach or in a restaurant overlooking the river. At night Belgrade becomes the party capital with its underground bars and open-air cafes.

Regent Recommends...
Looking for something quirky to do while in Belgrade then visit the House of Flowers. It's not what you think. Take a look at Tito's rather austere tomb, but more appealing is the collection of 'interesting' gifts Tito received from visiting world leaders. Entrance is free so go for the fun of it.
When to go
Belgrade is a great year-round destination but really comes alive during the festival season from May to August. In Vino, Belgrade's annual wine festival is held in May at the Sava Centre and was established in 2004 to celebrate the best of Serbian viticulture. The 6th International Folk Dance and Song Festival will be held in Belgrade from 9 to 15 July 2010, and our favourite in August (2010 dates to be confirmed) is the Belgrade Beer Fest, where you can taste over 30 different beers (Serbian and International), as well as listen to live music. Exit, one of Europe's largest music festivals, takes place in July in the Petrovaradin Fortress in Serbia's second city, Novi Sad, located about 85 kilometres from Belgrade.
