About Slovakia
Emerging from the shadow of the Czech Republic from which it 'divorced' in 1993, Slovakia is standing firm on its own two feet, is now a member of the EU and adopted the Euro as its official currency in 2008. The Baroque Old Town of Bratislava and its castle towering over the Danube must not be missed. Away from the capital, the stunning Tatra Mountains sweep down to the lowlands and you will find countless castles, wooden villages, churches and spa towns.
Slovakia City Breaks
Bratislava has emerged from the shadows of Prague and Vienna to establish itself as a capital city worth visiting. Regent Holidays offers a selection of hotel options for a city break in Bratislava from 3 star to 5 star hotels.

What to look out for on a typical Slovakian menu…
Slovaks love their cheese, their favourite being Oschtjepka, a mixture of cow’s and sheep’s milk, whilst Bryndza, made entirely from sheep’s milk comes a close second. For a hearty meal, look out for popular Brynzove Halusky on a typical Slovakian menu - small potato dumplings with sheep's cheese.
Regent Recommends...
AquaCity was created after British environmentalist and businessman, Mr. Jan Telensky discovered that beneath the rolling plains close to the small town of Poprad in north east Slovakia there were sources of natural, mineral rich, geothermal water. Tapping into these resources, Aqua city uses freely available natural energy to heat and power its hotels, waterpark, spa, restaurant, bars, fitness and conference centres, saving money by using green energy and at the same time conserving the environment and has been voted one of the ‘greenest’ resorts in the world. You can either stay for a few days in the resort itself or obtain a day pass, allowing access to up to 13 swimming pools and Jacuzzis and 11 inhalation rooms, saunas, relaxation areas and solarium in the beautifully appointed Vital World Spa.
